Both of these model will be excellent with BUCK constant current driver.

SP35 already has regulated output, but it should be updated to be even more efficient.

You can call them SC31 Pro ‘C’, and SP35 2.0 - or SP35C.

I don’t mind UI of SP35, but if you make BUCK version of SC31 Pro, it should remain ANDURIL 2.0.

I will buy 12 pieces if this model is created.

• lower CCT choice of the emitter <=5000K
• 18350 tube option
• a rotary jog dial switch like in IF30 and/or an indexed dial around it (like in DL08 ) - anything that would limit the proliferation of the Morse-coded, multifunction button :-). An on/off button is great and functional but it becomes a liability when attempting to assign too many functions to it, I recon.

• The low CCT emitter is within considered. Like 519A 5000K & 4000K
• 18350 tube should be added, that is obvious.
• The rotary jog dial switch or indexed dial would be hard challenge for EDC light. We must upgrade the process and increase the machine error from 0.1mm to 0.05mm first.

I had reason in another thread to revisit the SP32Av2 that I keep in my bag, and after playing with it a while, marvelled at the nice simple UI it has.

Click on/off, actual good ramping out of the box, 2click for turbo from on or off, strobe that was enough out of the way (3click) that it didn’t get in the way of normal usage, and pretty much that was it. I forgot if there was a way to switch between ramped and stepped, but who cares, as I’m comfortable with it as it is.

So I’m pretty confident that not every light “needs” the funny Andruil UI.

Anyway, while I got plain/“clear” as well (nekkid aluminum), the one I’ve got in my bag is that Chameleon Color, that seems to change from brown to gray to tan to almost that “champagne” color, etc., depending on the light source.

I carry that light in that color, and I am envied by men, and pursued by women. It’s a shame no other lights came out in that color. Any possibility to revive that?

In my opinion both Anduril and a regulated driver are needed for a 18350 light to truly make the most out of the limited capacity the battery has. the FC11C is really good but I lack the ability to fine tune the brightness vrs runtime tradeoff. Only having 3 steps (not counting moonlight and turbo) is really limiting. On the other hand the ability to sustain high with only battery capacity being the limit is very impressive. My SC31 Pro lights cannot match it.

Who ever Figures out how to put all of these things into a light in the price range that these lights are in is going to have a winner and sell lots of them. We are getting closer with every new release from Sofirn and Wurkkos, Eventually one of them will make the light that I suspect lots of people really want. Just look at how much attention the FC11C got since its release and how much the SC31 pro is still recommended as a good light the try and see if you like Anduril.

A hard challenge for SC31 pro, but we will make it happen. Keep progress and good quality flashlight on 2025

So maybe a SS bezel that unscrews and holds in the lens (and possibly a reflector of the same exact dimensions, for those who still favor reflectors) would make a customisable light as far as the beam, swappable quickly and easily, vs disassembling a glued head to get to the reflector/lens.

I must say ss bezel & TIR lens is a great pair with tacit. But the debate between one-way clip and two-way clip seems will never ended.

Starting from humble origins as the first entry level model, the SC31/SC31B/SC31 Pro had proven to be pretty successful, by focusing on getting the fundamentals right, and not adding superfluous features.

At the time, IIRC, the Pro was the least expensive light available with Anduril, and brought it to a wider audience at a low entry price point. The micro USB port gave way to a Type-C port.

Its cousin, the FC11, brought a high CRI emitter to the game, along with a more modern look, and magnetic tail.

I hope this next iteration is a further refinement, and not an attempt to reinvent the wheel.

All would be welcome, but don’t mess with the basic formula. It doesn’t need to be anything that it isn’t already.

I wouldn’t mind a TIR over a reflector, these days I see reflectors as unneeded length, and unneeded technology; Nothing a TIR can’t do that a reflector can, as far as I can tell. Maybe a sub model sold with a wide flood optic/led like the flood channel on the HS20, that would be sweet. Maybe a warmer tint around 4K as an option.

But otherwise I like the lights just as they are.

I guess my only real request is to not replace the 31 Pro, but introduce a new model based on it.

Well, one big request I guess, not to b a broken record but I am going to say it again; For ANYTHING you develop, please, Please learn to make a tail cap with a magnet AND a side mounted lanyard ring loop(NOT one that one end of hole is on the end of the cap, making the magnet un usable if a hard ring is in the hole).

100% agree with your opinion. The performance both really close between TIR and reflector. The more important role to give people two options. Somebody more interested in TIR, and somebody more interested in reflector.
Also, you are never minority dude, there is often feedback we got “Make the magnet tailcap with side mounted lanyard ring loop.” So we did it on SR12

It’s interesting that auto-lock is so devisive. I was visiting a friend at the weekend who asked me to recommend a new head-torch. He had one major frustration with his current one which was that it kept turning on in his bag. I purchased a SOFIRN H25S for him and told him he’d have to unscrew the tailcap a bit to prevent this happening.

And is the size of the optic the same in depth/width as in the SC31 pro?

Systematically this sounds like an issue best solved by optimising Andúril simple UI. Andúril gives you the choice to make the light more accessible to non-enthusiasts, proprietary UI is permanent. I’m yet to gift an Andúril light to an unitiated person but I wouldn’t be too worried. To be safe I’d probably flash a build that makes simple UI the default after factory reset should the giftee manage to do the 1H-while-tightening-head combo and make no changes to the simple UI config so no settings change should that happen.
