The There Are No Stupid Questions Thread

I may read the text all wrong, but isn’t a coat closet the perfect place to provide a runaway cell with ample fuel?

It’s far enough away for me but I guess you’re right. It blows up there will be enough fuel to start fire. I’m afraid to discharge it. Not sure what I’ll do with it , maybe I should bury it underground?

Naw, a coat closet has way too much air. You’d need to pack it in finely crunkled dry leaves, which would provide lots of insulation. :skull_and_crossbones::skull_and_crossbones::skull_and_crossbones:

Can you provide a link to the K40’s description ?
Is that a light with 3 batteries in series ? If so then the flashlight did the charging right - up to 12.6 (12.7) volts. For some reason one of the batteries got unbalanced and reached full charge earlier than two others but since the pack’s voltage hadn’t reached 12.6V the flashlight proceeded with the charging.
This is the reason why series of cells must not be charged without at least a BMS, and a balancer.

EDIT: Probably this is the flashlight, but it seems to have no built-in charger.

Supbeam changed their name to Acebeam several years ago.

I did not get any suggestions as what to do with the battery. I wasn’t going to discharge it and I wasn’t going to leave it in my house.
I did what I had to do to protect my family and my people. There’s not many of us left.

My cousin’s an engineer. Here’s what he said.

See screenshot.

I think he’s right I probably put that one battery in backwards .It makes sense with the output which was very low

This reminds me of a joke I read about 60+ years ago. A tandem (2 pers.) bicycle reaches the summit of a steep climb.
The front cyclist says: wow, that was a close one. We almost did not make it.
The second cyclist answers: I know. If I hadn’t squeezed the brakes so hard all of the time we surely would have dropped into the canyon.

Thanks for posting the likely reason for the interesting event you described as I was wondering what could have caused it.

How old are you 80 years old? Remember a joke from 60 years ago?I guess I missing something.
What does your weak joke have to do with what happened? I probably put it in backwards. I’m not perfect. Are you?

2 batteries putting in the work, one battery putting in the metaphorical brakes. I found it quite funny

Also, I really dislike lights with more than 2 series batteries for this exact reason. With 2 batteries, if you put one in wrongly, they just cancel out and nothing happens.
