I like the idea of putting a TIR lens in this. Are there any 23 × 12 mm TIR optics that may fit? It looks like the only Convoy option is 23.3mm x 13.5mm, which I’m sure can be made to fit. Maybe something without the white plastic holder though?

you can take off the plastic holder, or just cut the lower part if the outer circumference is needed to fit the host

M4C build. SFP55 5500k. Did this driver build the other night… @INeedMoreLumens 32mm Fet+1 driver on Oshpark After Dark coloration, with Anduril 2.
I left the emitter wire long for now, as this will go through some changes, so I wanted extra for the time being.
ETA: I used 16ga wire in this build.
This is one of my favorite DDH hosts at the moment.

I had 15° beaded in S21E with 531 and it was great flooder. Then switched to 10° flat and it was still great but with a pronounced hotspot. Still a great flooder

You’re gonna want “15deg” or “30deg” beaded, or the 9-die structure of the LHP531 will give you 2 rings in the hotspot. Also, with such a large LES, going beaded doesn’t even lose you an obvious amount of throw.
Also I’ve found the 10deg flat TIR to have focus issues with every emitter. The curvature of the reflecting surface is not smooth but consisted of 2 rings/layers, each with a different focal point.

I had zero issues with 10° flat in the S21E with 531 3000K. No rings or artefacts. Just a big hotspot and smoot transition into spill.

Can confirm this, I have a 15⁰ flat in my T4 with a LHP531 behind it and the hot spot is pretty clean with a bit of tint shift.

Probably depends on your personal sensitivity to artifacts. I’m pretty nitpicky about it and would consider the following unacceptable. (It’s LHP531 in a smooth reflector, as I no longer keep the relevant configuration.)
Also the 10deg flat optic makes a huge donut hole with SFT70 and even introduces artifacts in an SFT40, whereas the 20mm 5050 15deg optic generates none.
The 20mm 15deg flat is just a much better designed optic, in fact the only clear optic I’ve ever encountered that does not generate angular tint shift with any emitter I’ve tried, domed or domeless. It should even fit the S21E.
Who said anything about a smooth reflector? I said 531 with a 10° flat lens is clean and that’s a fact. Why are you always trying to bend those facts in to your imaginary reality. Ffs!

I have already said that I no longer keep the relevant configuration (LHP531 with 10 deg optic). A photo of a smooth reflector, which produces a similar effect as the flat optic, is all I can pull up at the moment.
I feel that (i) this sufficiently demonstrates the tendency of the LHP531 to create ringy hotspots in non-diffuse secondary optics due to the 9-die construction, and that (ii) the following comments on the SFT70 and SFT40 sufficiently illustrate the focus issues with the 10-degree optic.
For the above reasons, I don’t feel the need to re-build an LHP531+10deg optic light just to convince you in particular. But if there is interest from the broader community to see a beamshot+artifacts of this combination, then happy to do it.

I was curious if Hanks retaining rings and buttons would fit any of the DDH hosts.
No go on any of the metal button hosts, but I was able to put a raised ring and circle button I ordered as a spare with my recent D4v2 order onto my D2ic!
I did need to mod it slightly.
I cut the nub off the rubber button.
Then used a 13mm x 1.5mm oring in the switch pocket to act as a spacer.
Button feel is perfect!!!
FYI, I am using 2mm tall switches on my builds. If you are using a different height switch, ymmv. If you’re using a 2.6mm height switch, I would try a 1mm thick oring.
If your pcb has a 1.5-1.6mm switch, try it without cutting the nub.
ETA: I’m hoping they fit the M0BC I have on order. I think they will, as the button looks similar to the D2ic.
