Moved table of bigger lights to #2 post for better navigation, added XBY driver info Press here for big Dongs
In an attempt to convert more Dongers I’ve integrated the details and specs of some DongDongHai(DDH) host available on Taobao, into one table. Hope this helps for fellow DIYers.
Thanks for creating this topic with all the different models/information listed!
There are several models which I would really like to do a build with and I’m sure I will probably do so at one point! (If it was a bit “easier” to buy it somewhere, other than Taobao, I would’ve probably already ordered one or two DDH hosts.)
Due to this topic and the photos that you’ve also included, I noticed that several of the models you listed, I’ve came across at Kaidomain’s website, listed as hosts.
The M1C, M2C and M2C(Triple), listed as K1C, K2C and K2C-T:
Kaidomain also lists the K2G, which doesn’t line up exactly to your list, although I expect it might be the D2GC, although the specs listed of both models might not be fully correct somewhere.
They also list one 26650 host, which seems to be the same as the D2i:
Based on @INeedMoreLumens his photo shown above, the K2G must obviously be the D2G and not the D2CG that I mentioned. As far as I could could tell, the D2G isn’t yet listed in the opening post.
Donger… I love it. I have 3 DDH lights and 3 more arriving from KAI hopefully soon. BOOKMARKED! Thanks for this. Hopefully spare parts will be easier to find. I did reach out to KAI Domain and they offered to try and source any DDH host if I just gave them the info.
I really like that those lights are being supported with all those optional batteries tubes, making it so that you can even further ‘customize’ your build to your liking!
I’m probably going to order the Kaidomain version (K2G) in the next couple of days, just because that’s a quick and easy option.
After that I will orientate myself on one of the bigger lights (on Taobao), like the M4B (or C) or maybe even the D6E.
For D6/D7/D8/F8, there were two 47mm drivers I tried.
The Anduril 10A buck/120A FET is not bad, but the USB-C port is a placeholder part and not meant to actually function. You need the charging cap for the battery tube with it:
The XBY 30A buck/300A FET (v3.5k, not the older v2.5 FET only) has working USB-C and obviously more current than the Anduril driver, is click for off but custom UI:
Sounds like a nice combination for that light. Dimensions of the reflector appear to be pretty close to ‘regular’ C8(+) reflector, but how does the beam turn out in practice?
I just spotted in this topic, that Simon is working on 2 new LEDs, the F45R and F150R, with that last one being a 7070, round die/LES capable of max. 30 amps. Given that the D2G has a 10mm reflector hole, 7070 should work.
Might be a fun combination putting that LED in the D2G, combined with a 20a buck driver.
I like both for having the option of a reflector with a 16,5mm reflector hole, giving it the option to go for the bigger LEDs like the SFH55 and SFP55. The 46950 battery tube option for the D6E makes it even more interesting, since I have a bunch of those batteries in stock/storages, without a purpose for them currently.
This is going to go slightly off topic so I’ll try to put everything into one post.
The reflectors are interchangeable with the Convoy C8,C8+,M21A, and MantaRay M45.
My D2GC/XM-MR has a SMO 10mm hole DDH reflector.
The beam looks good but when white wall hunting it does have a ring beyond the far outside edge of the beam.
I’m guessing that ring is caused by the SS Bezel.
When I ordered my D2G, the only reflector option was OP.
I swapped in a 7mm hole SMO I stole from my MantaRay M45
My D2G/SFT42R with the MantaRay reflector has some additional rings in the corona.
I’m planning to swap the 10mm SMO reflector into it to see if it’s the reflector causing them, or the LED.
I’ll let you know the results after I have a chance to swap the reflectors.
