Whenever in the past I ordered anything that shipped from outside EU and had price marked on parcel above 22 Euro it was stopped by customs. I had to travel there, spend all day there, filling their forms and paying all kinds of duties and fees to greedy officers. :weary: Really a PITA. Inside EU buying or if items are below 22 Euro - all arrive free directly at my door. :innocent:
I opened a dispute with Neal as well, and it seems to have gotten his attention, as he told me that my orders had been shipped today.
Howeverā¦ I had made two separate orders, each to be sent to separate addresses in different locations. He only gave me one tracking number for all of the items, implying that both of my orders had been merged. I do not know which of the two addresses the items will arrive at.
question.why you order from.Neal?whats betterā¦price,fast shipping.or what?
Mtn was/is out of stock and charges about $10-15 for shipping to Canada.
I recall reading somewhere on intl-outdoor that orders from Canada may take 10-12 weeks to arrive as a result of their shipping methodā¦ I donāt see it anymore, but thatās what made me opt for Nealās store (in addition to the slightly lower prices and the fact that he will ship a VTC6 in the light for only $5.50, whereas theyāre about $15-20 locally).
When I ordered my D1S, Neal used ePacket shipping and I received the light in just over one week.
Under normal circumstances, I doubt thereād be so many issues. He was/is busy with his honeymoon, holidays, and the GT. In my opinion, he should at least include a disclaimer on his website stating that orders may be delayed indefinitely while he is preoccupied.
Yes, I think thatās all thatās needed. One of the things that infuriates me about customer-service is āno responseā. I donāt need a response right away, but if I hear nothing back in 2 days or more, it bugs me. Even a standard form response saying theyāve got my email and will respond in a few days, is fine. No response is not okay.
This is all a bit off topic but itās really ridiculous that you have to open a PayPal dispute with Neal to get some info on oneās order!! :person_facepalming:
I will give him at least this week and then he had 1,5 month to answer my lousy simple question if my light was shipped - than I let PayPal get over! :weary:
Honeymoon etc. is all ok and fine but THIS is not the right way to āhandleā his costumers. I will never buy from him.
I donāt know the details, aside from Neal being busy with the GT and marriage and holidays. Maybe he has been successful enough that itās time to hire a helper.
I decided to message Neal yesterday via his Facebook group. He responded right away with a tracking number. Breathed a bit of a a sigh of relief, but I placed three separate orders, so hopefully he just combined all of them together. As Toykeeper said, I think heās just insanely overwhelmed at the moment with GTs, getting back from his honeymoon, and having a ton of regular orders. All that being said, he really should address peopleās complaints with defective merchandise much sooner. I donāt mind being patient with orders, but Iād be really upset if something was broken and I wasnāt receiving a timely response.
I agreeā¦ā¦ a short explanation would go a long way unless of course it is the all too familiar āplease send a videoā . When you get that response you can expect a long game of email tag with someone that either doesnt bother to read your detailed explanation of the problem or doesnt understand your language. I think it is their way of trying to wear you down until you decide to give up. Its obvious that making the sale is more important to them than providing post-sales support
Got my tracking number today after emailing hank yesterday :+1:
He had sent me a shipped notification with no tracking number.
Day 28 and still counting
Day 28 and still counting
If you havenāt yet heard from Neal, I donāt think your light has shipped. You should contact him via Facebook or open a PayPal claim to remind him! Some users have been waiting since November without any luck, so I think itās better to do this sooner than later.
day 42 and still waiting!
I ordered my nichia d4 from int outdoor. Donāt recall waiting too long for it, but I am pretty patient and relaxed. Canāt get in the Amazon prime mentality when it comes to this hobby.
Love the light, Q8 and this are my faves.
I donāt know the details, aside from Neal being busy with the GT and marriage and holidays. Maybe he has been successful enough that itās time to hire a helper.
I agree. If he can hire someone to deal with his wife, that would free up a lot more time for him to handle his business.
weird question but what kind of switch is that?
i ask because i had a manker U11 with a similar looking switch it failed because the rubber cap came off.
from the top, the whole assembly was :
rubber cap [external],
pressing on mylar dome, containing
steel snap-dome, shorting
2 contact points on switch body, soldered to ckt board
when the rubber cap came off, i could not get it back on
it would not go back inside the hole,
i could not get the driver out to put it back from the inside,
and i could not glue it on, due to slippery and flexy silicone rubber material
i tried to keep using the light, by ignoring the missing rubber cap, and pressing on the mylar dome,
but that came off too in about a week and the little steel thing was lost, now the light is useless
does this light have the same arrangement? wle
Image shamelessly stolen here:
Thatās OK mate, sometimes Iām not the best at showing or explaining things unless asked. For the switch I used a very thin flat head screwdriver to slip under the bezel and twisted to raise it a bit then pryed until it popped off, being careful not to press on the switch when prying, donāt want to damage that. For the recessed switch it is just the stock switch in there but to replace the rubber I cut three pieces of GITD tape to size, punched two in the centre with a 7mm punch to make doughnā¦
thanks
any clue how the rubber thing stays in the hole?
(i assume it is bigger than the hole, but is it also glued in?)
what keeps the little dome thing attached to the lower part?
if the rubber thing comes out, can you take the light apart and put it back from the back side?

Guys, how should this Emisar D4 compare in practice with the Eye of Sekhmet lamp, with its 260,000 candela actual output, reviewed at Eye of Sekhmet Flashlight Review. An Unusual USA Made Monster Thrower. - YouTube ?
There are ambiguities in the lumen rating and so I wanted to understand how you appreciate what the difference would be. I have the Emisar D4 already so would like to understand how the Eye of Sekhmet should compare. (And the EoS is way costlier.)
candelas are ābrightnessā
lumens are ātotal lightā
same lumens in half the angle/area is twice the candelas
so it is a function of throwiness(lower candelas) vs throwiness(higher candelas)
