JetBeam Jet-II MK….power, compact and…fatty, I love this little RCR123A light:
My complete review in spanish on october 2016 here: review JetBeam Jet-II MK (unit bought at my cost, not sample for review)
One of my preferred 1xAA lights reviewed some months ago…Klarus Mi7. I make review of one sample black of Mi7, and after that I bought one in green, one Titanium edition…
Here the complete review in spanish of aluminium first batch of Klarus Mi7: review Klarus Mi7
I prefer this LA10 over CL05 from Fenix. Fenix use aaa battery, and high mode is only 8 lumens. 85 lumens in LA10 with AA battery is enough for me and perfect for my garage.
JetBeam PA40
It is not the most powerful, it is not the most modern …. but I have used it for years, I gave it away and now I will do it with a new unit.
There was a time when JetBeam made really Premium models (now they are good but no longer makes them equal …) This is one of them.
Same here, I had a PA40 for many years and then I gave it to a mechanic friend who still uses it, the carbon composite body seems to be indestructible and far more resistant than aluminum when it comes to drops. The battery holder was cleverly designed. Now we no longer see lights like this, it seems like real innovation have stopped.
You are right. Now there’s a race to get the flashlight with more lumens … more lumens, but it’s hard to find flashlights for a lifetime.
For example there are lights with 4xAA that offer 1000 lumens and more … but AA’s are not made for that, the flashlights literally drink the batteries … the acceptable mode for 4xAA is a maximum of 500 lumens, above that we are demanding too much … in my opinion.
Eneloops can surprisingly handle a huge amount of current for a lot of power. But capacity is limited, so more lumens means little runtime. Not to mention heat will become a problem as well. However, another overlooked issue is compatibility with alkaline in case of emergency for example. A 1000 lumen 4xAA light like the Thrunite TN4A is probably too demanding for alkaline resulting in wasting batteries at turbo level.
So about 500 lumens for this Jetbeam is really nice. Light intensity is also not perceived linearly, so it’s not going to be a huge difference with 1000 lumens as well.
The forward clicky switch means no parasitic drain. This will benefit the low self discharge property of Eneloops for a care free storing of the light. It’s a winner!
(Oh… I am playing with my SRT9 since 3 or 4 days ago…and really, the flashlight have not doubt, best things of EC 4 series,……and best of SRT series in this design)
information on screen: Voltage, Time of charge, mA inserted, resistence (mR), speed of charge.
Each channel have his button, clic on it for change between voltage, time of charge,….
There are also other 2 buttons: for change speed charge and mode.
