My current computer (brought 2008) now around 5 years old. its now time to do upgrade.

will it make any improvement ?
I’m assuming you don’t do a lot of hard core processing or gaming based on your specs.
The biggest bottleneck in your current setup is your hard drive, so I’d say adding a SSD to your build.
Having a 128GB SSD drive for your OS and your existing HDD for data will make your computer crazy fast.

SSD +2Gb RAM and you’ll be fine. RAM is dirt cheap right now.
I am agree that adding a SSD is very important.
I am using 4 years old laptop with 120GB Intel SSD,
my 7200rpm 500GB previous HDD is now secondary HD instead of DVD drive.
Performance is very good.
Pretty good upgrade. If you are doing just web browsing I would agree with others that SSD upgrade would just do it. I would also like to add upgrading from 4 GB to 8 GB ram is very important too. Windows loves more RAM. Not sure if u remember those days of Vista OS system where u like literally had to close down almost everything to get certain programs to run on 3.5 GB.
You can’t have too much RAM. More and more changes cause you to need more than expected. It is cheap, and so get as much as reasonable. The suggestion for 8 Gigs is a good one. Get as large a hard drive as you can, and you will not be sorry. I hear a lot of folks when discussing security and anti-virus applications gripe that such and such slows down my system. So, are you looking to rebuild or just purchase something new altogether?
I was going to rebuild, but I was able to get an AMD A10 up to 4Ghz Turbo, 12Mb Ram, 2GB HD, USB 3.0 for 399.00, so I didn’t bother just reused my better PSU. I’ve been pretty amazed at what graphics the A10 has been able to handle.
The Solid State drive would certainly make any system snappy.
I'm guessing you mean 12Gb ram and 200gb hard drive? If so, where did you get that? 
My guess is 12GB of RAM and 2TB HD...

...and this system has served me very well. I don't do a lot of high-end gaming, but I was able to play BioShock and Portal2 very well on this system with no issues. About a year ago, I decided to purchase additional RAM so I added an additional 4GB making the system total 6GB and I saw no improvement in performance. Win7 must have much better memory management than Vista...
Lol yeah, unless this is 1996 again. But that was from one of daily deal sites I think 1sale a day, for a refurb unit. There is an open slot for 4GB more Ram as well. It’s actually 12GB Ram and 2TB HD.
My PC at work is t3500 xeon w/ 12gb ram. I run two win7 virtual machines in vmware workstation w/ no problems 
It is set up for RAID0 because I’d rather never have a problem w/ data loss than go any faster…
but I can’t really brag, because my PC at home is dimension 8400 (p4, 2gb ram). It works ok…but I have to close all applications to keep HD movies from stuttering lol. Maybe I’ll try a SSD.
My laptop runs windows 8, and while it does boot quicker than windows 7, I don’t think I will put it on the desktop. I have warmed up a bit to the mouse to the corner thing, but windows 7 does a fine job.

Yes it will make an improvement,
but you may as well thrown in a new video card as well and its basically a new PC (just keep the case and power supply).
It all depends on what you want it for … i have to disagree with all the recommendations for an SSD … They are nice to have but all they do is make programs open faster. Once that program is open there is very little (if any at all) benefit from having an SSD.
But again … it all depends on what you mainly use the PC for…
