uv flashlight for scorpion hunting

I need an uv flashlight for scorpion hunting.

18650 battery size

50meter range

More floody but have a spot

Budget is 30$

I hope you have fun here, Headborough!

Check convoylight. They have a few good 365nm uv lights. If you’re in the US buy a zwb filter separately and toss it on when you receive it.

Came in to suggest Convoy too. I’m not sure you’re going to get 50m, especially with the filter.

Edit: Ultrafire have a decent selection too

Think it was the SP32-UV that threw a tight spot of UV from a reflector, but was desperately in need of a filter, as it bled lots of ghostly pale greenish white light.

Filter size was also 19.5mm or so, so a standard 20mm filter would need to be sanded down a hair to fit. (Yeah, that I remember…)

That said, it’s the only UV light that threw like that, as nothing else came close. Most UV lights are on the floody side, and UVLEDs don’t tolerate overcurrent very well if at all, so you can’t really push them for more range.

I did a review somewhere, but someone else also took it on a tour looking through windows of a deserted basement, parking garage, something like that. Just goggle for it…

1 Thank

I find Sofirn SF16 quite spotty. It has ZWB2 filter - less visible pollution. I wonder if 365 nm peak is best for scorpions?

A convoy m21A should be plenty spotty. A bit over budget but I’d say you’ll fluoresce the buggers from far enough away with that.

I remember… was it djozz?.. who got and sold a bunch of filters that would fit a C8.

Stick a decent emitter on a star, stick that in a C8 with matching driver, use the filter, and you’d have a kick-ass UV thrower.
