Ah Killing Floor fan?

I liked it better than the other horde zombie games anyway. The firearms just sound and feel better and I like the class system. I have played KF1 for about 100 hrs and KF2 for about 200.

That is kinda small potato’s since those games are like Garry’s Mod in terms of how some people stick with it for yrs and yrs. The single title I have the most hrs in is probably Battlefield 4 because I bought it when it came out and none of the other BF games surpassed it for me. I am sitting at about 1400 hrs on that bad boy. (For anyone who doesn’t know that game came out about 11 yrs ago so the number is not as crazy as it sounds)

Either that, or turkeydance doesn’t care how annoying they are. :man_shrugging:

As a big Black Sabbath fan, I was looking forward to this Ozzy tribute. Although somewhat over the top, the induction speech by Jack Black was exuberant and entertaining. In my opinion, however, the music that followed did not live up to its promise. None of the tribute vocalists could do justice to Ozzy’s unique sound.

Quick and cool. I love the textures of the sounds in this kind of music.

I just finished watching this. Sure, nobody really sang like Ozzy but he has an iconic voice. It seems like these guys just did their best to sing it how they sang it in tribute. Honestly, I think Billy Idol really stood out as the best and really nailed it.

That said, I can’t remember if someone here posted some recent Billy Idol or if I did, or if it was somewhere else. I’m not as decrepit as Ozzy but my memory sure ain’t what it used to be. Anyway, here is the full performance at Hoover Dam with his lengthy introduction and discussion of the dam’s history. (The concert itself starts at 19:30.)

I’m glad somebody liked it!

One thing I learned many years ago is this: by the time an artist makes it onto my radar, they are generally very good musicians. This is true as much for the music I don’t like as it is for the stuff I do. And it certainly applies to all the folks who took part in the Ozzy tribute.

Lol! I know the feeling. One of the big reasons I always type in the artist and title when I post a video link, is so that I can use the search function later on.

The Billy Idol Concert is “out there” as a full dvd, too, if anyone’s interested.

A while ago, my old laptop crapped the bed, then set it on fire, urinated on the ashes, and called in an airstrike afterwards.

Anyhoo, had 3 “extra” laptops… that turned out to be totally useless. Missing charger for one. Missing altogether other one (found the box, not the laptop). Another with busted hinges as the plastic degraded to that point.

Found an ancient tablet that I knew ran 8.1, figured that was “new enough”. Battery won’t even take a charge. Runs fine from the charger, but the bottom was covered in sticky goo. Display was f’ed, too, as it looked like virga falling from the top-right corner, a bright white squiggle running diagonally and darker in the area between that and the corner. Ah! The glue, or goo, or whatever, that must’ve been holding the gorilla glass to the screen must’ve just seeped out over time. Yeah, wtf? Still usable, though.

Or is it? Only had an ancient version of exploder on it, and no sites would even allow me to connect to them!! Had to get the craptop whose disk would just… stop… after 2-3min or so, and stuck an ubuntu dvd to run live, stuck a flash thingy in it, then grabbed the version of firefox portable that I kept on there. Disk only had to stay active long enough to grab that, then I wouldn’t care what would happen after. It worked!

Transferred FFP to the tablet, and that’s what I was using, ohhh, about the last month or so. Was looking for the MIA laptop that’s known good (ubuntu, could create a winsucks vm), no joy, can’t find it or remember where I had it last.

So ordered a refurb dell for 2hunnit, and it’s quite nice, actually. Works a treat. Installed most of the goodies I used most often, and am almost back online 100%.

Anyhoo, whole point of that nightmare fuel is that I got all that stuff on external disk somewhere. Dunno if the concert’s dvd5, dvd9, etc. But it’s out there in full. Reeeeally top notch. Good reminder to try to find the Real Thing and get a hardcopy of it. Worth it…

Janis Joplin · Kozmic Blues Band – "Summertime" (live, 1969)

Some of you may not be sure, yet, just how much you like Janis Joplin. Heck, there are times when I'm not so sure myself. Her live performances can be a little ragged.

On a good day, however, Janis is mesmerizing. The performance below, of Gershwin's "Summertime," was one of those days. It's taken from her 1969 European tour with the Kozmic Blues Band. Although YouTube does not give the date, this may be an excerpt from the TV broadcast of a show at the Concertgebouw, in Amsterdam, on April 11, 1969.

PBS used an abridged version of this in the 2015 documentary Janis: Little Girl Blue. The recording below is complete, except it clips the first three seconds of the baroque horn intro.

Enjoy.

You can hear the missing few seconds in this YouTube video. I would have used it here, except it has a nasty watermark that covers the center of the screen.

LeAnn Rimes & Joss Stone – "Summertime" (live, 2007)

The cover by LeAnn Rimes and Joss Stone is notable for a couple of reasons. First of all, the vocals are outstanding. LeAnn and Joss both belt like crazy (in a good way). The other thing is the two very tasty guitar solos, one during the song's introduction, and the other before the last verse. Don't let them go by without listening!

This performance aired on episode 26 of CMT Crossroads, back in 2007.
