What are you listening right now ?

This is the background story of that Hang On Sloopy video. I came across it a few months ago. That video was done long after the song came out to sort of re-energize it. The story they lay out is pretty entertaining.

The audience members had no clue how historic this concert would turn out to be…

Remembers me that masterpiece:

"I Can't Quit You Baby" by Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin's first album was one of two I bought on a fine summer day in 1969. It was the first time I ever bought an LP with my own money. Listened to it again this week, and the guitar solo from I Can't Quit You Baby stood out (along with just about everything else!).

"White Bird" by It's a Beautiful Day

The other album I came home with that day was the first release by It's a Beautiful Day.

Here's a small taste.

How about the rest of you? Was your first album a good one?

Let us hear!

Red Hot Ladyva Joins Boogie Woogie Pianist

Boogie woogie pianist Brendan "Dr. K" Kavanagh usually teams up with amateurs he meets in the London Underground to share a little musical joy. He's proven time and again that you don't have to be an expert to have a good time making music.

Occasionally, however, Dr. K hooks up with a pro, and when it works, you get some real fireworks. That's what happened three weeks ago when Swiss pianist Ladyva dropped by the Underground to deliver this tour de force.

It's funny, the things you notice. Ladyva is beautiful, of course, but did you see how long her fingers are? They're huge! That really helps when you're pounding out the octaves. I've noticed the same thing on many of the world's great pianists (and guitarists).

You can see more of Ladyva on her YouTube channel:

Nice thighs too.

Yeah, it looked like Dr. K maybe fell in love a little bit!

me too

Giggity.

Bugger, I thought I posted this already, but I guess not. Was floored by her performance.

“Hey, any of you play the piano?”
“Uhh, yeah, me, a little… why?”
[gives masterful performance]
[surprised Pinkachu faces all around]

Whoa.
