Very nice mods ‘mountainair26’. :+1:
Nothing better than several successful mods on lights you enjoy using.
I enjoy keeping those older hosts up to date also.
Thanks for sharing.

A quick and simple mod for a boring evening.
The rubber switch pierced with a thick needle and the tube of tritium pushed inside with a toothpick (slightly cut at the end). The flashlight immediately becomes easier to find at night.
(This is obviously not as bright as in the picture)
I’d be worried about them cracking with the deflection of the switch boot. If they hold up, I really like it!
Nothing to worry about. I already did something like this with my dad’s flashlight over a year and a half ago and it hasn’t cracked yet, and it is used almost every day
Great news! I think I might actually do this then
Good idea Chatika, where do you recommend getting tritium from that isn’t incredibly expensive? I want to put a vial in some tail caps to find at night, but I don’t know where to source it from in the US.
The only experience I have with tritium is night-sights on firearms, never bought the small vials or anything else. Does Glow-in-the-dark paint work almost as well?
Cool I like this one!
Well thought
Thrunite Ti3 V2 mod to 219b 4500k 9080 D200 sw45k
plus a Tir lens, thanks to moderator007
compare to a 5000k LH351d w sliced dome on the right, in a Tool AAA with a pebbled Tir, thanks to contactcr:
max output on Ti3 w 219b is 70 lumens
max output on Tool w LH351d is 78 lumens
I’ve never dealt with GITD paint.
I bought my tritium tube a long time ago at nealsgadgets.com
Yes, the generic switches may not be able to handle the higher currents like the quality Omten switches can.
Several years ago I modified an AA flashlight with a higher current driver and there was some flickering. I replaced it with a Omten 1217 switch and the flickering went away.
Perhaps the Astrolux switches are fine, but I replace them with Omten switches like what comes with the Convoy flashlights just in case.
I never found a difference between (Omten 1288 type) switches thaat actually were branded Omten and without branding. But bad ones may still be out there. Another factor may be the assembly: these switches overheat and deform very fast during soldering, it a bit of an art to solder them in quickly without damage.
Switched out the XPL HI on an S2+ with an E21A 2200K - 7135*3 driver. Works beautifully but now I have a donut hole at close range. I understand it’s a physics issue with respect to focus. Had already ordered some different degree lenses which are on the way. 10, 15, 30, 45, 60 and 85. Is it likely one of them will sort out that issue?
(What did i mod today?) Technically this ‘is’ a mod since it’s running fw3 innards.
I have a new Convoy T2 floating around somewhere in the US postal system and figured it couldn’t hurt to ask. Do anyone know if the mode memory on the latest version can be defeated by removing a component on the driver itself? Maybe an off time capacitor or something?
I believe this is the driver installed in the light: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000967149302.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.60.69525518S2Ubg6
As for modding, I’m still playing around and modifying source code for Anduril 2.
Looks great! Did you make the host or is that a modded FW body?
This. I’ve destroyed a few during soldering, even when I think I’m being careful. If you need to attach a spring, you’d better do it before the switch is on the board. I’ve tried being careful applying the spring, and I’ve tried removing and re-adding the switch to add the spring without it, but even then it seems two additional cycles (de- and re-soldering it) is usually too much. Blasted things. I may be buying pre-built switch boards for a long time…
Maybe I just need to buy 1288s in bulk. They’re cheap enough, I should just keep a bucket of them. If I need to swap and/or bypass a spring, it just gets a brand new switch!

Nice Light you have there pinkpanda3310.

Made a new host. It’s not finished yet, need to disassemble it and do a few more bits and pieces.
Thanks mate
Once again my first attempt at flaming a light resulted in blemishes Kinda disappointed because i like the clean edges on the …. knurling…??? not really knurling is it, but anyway i need to sand it back and do it again which means everything will get that rounded smoothy feel to it that i’m not a fan of.
Woooaaah, another PP special, looks fantastic!
