I finally finished the Fwaa/TS10 RGB ; to do this I needed the following pieces:
switch (ts10 first models, brass, copper and ti)
tube with gasket (ts10 first models, brass, copper and ti)
RGB driver (ts10)
TS10 mcpcb from Zwerglein02 (or the original TS10 mcpcb)
optic (ts10)
a spacer (2mm±)
the other pieces are all from the fwaa (I didn’t use the 2 fixing rings for the driver and switch).
PS: wurkkos only sells the new types of tube and switch (the ones you can find in the latest colored ts10s) on the fwaa I couldn’t get them to work so I swapped the pieces with one of my old ts10s (yes, the old ts10 works with new parts)
I’m thinking of getting M21H. Never had a Convoy. Read 1lumen review and looked at options. I’m a bit confused.
There are several M21 models (and lots of other series too). Is the H the only one with USB charging, TIR, and side switch?
I imagine XHP70.3 HI R9050 5000K is the LED too choose?
And, lastly but importantly, what are the TIR options for this light and how does the beam look like with any of them (or perhaps there are come indicators like cd/lm for them? I imagine it’s the 35 mm lens that’s needed for this host/LED combination?
p.s. Are the TIRs offered by Simon for this light/LED the only/best option? Are there other designs that would fit and, if so, are they worth it?
happy to know everything from the ts10 fit in the fwaa …
i just have a not working fwaa on its way to me …
wanna try to repair it, but otherwise i’ll order parts from wurkkos then
there are really few components on this driver (fwaa driver 1.1)…my AMC7135 burned out, I changed it and it works but in the meantime I had already ordered one from lumintop
M21H D, E and F all use the same driver (that has the USB port). However, the H is the only TiR.
I love my M21H. I put an FFL505A 3500k in it and it’s perfect for walking the dog, around the house, all sorts of stuff
That said: this driver doesn’t go very low, or seem like it’s goes very high, either. It’s bright enough. But I feel like it should be brighter. Or maybe I’m under powering my emitter. Dunno
I went with XHP70.3 Hi R9050, but really should have just gone with the R70 for superior output.
I believe the XHP70.2 HD LED has some compatibility issues with one or more of the TIR lens.
I recall some pics on Reddit comparing the TIR options, but I’ve not seen any hard data. I’ve got the “tactical tail switch” too- it works okay, but needs the light to be turned on by the e-switch, then off by the tactical tail clicky will “save” that mode for next time you press the tail -if the tail switch is “off” the e switch will not do anything.
anyway it works with the new system too, but it is very sensitive and it doesn’t take much for it to stop working and there is no space to mount the clip
I finally managed to get this Microstream Streamlight open and swapped out whatever the crappy green low CRI emitter came with it for an FFL351A 4000k rosy. Huuuuuge improvement!
Unfortunately, I managed to mangle the end up really well. That’s some really soft aluminum. It didn’t take much. But, I’ll figure out a way to fix it and make the light better looking.
How do you like it, is the pink tint ridiculously excessive?
Do you have an Opple 3 (or Opple 4) Tint DUV reading?
I can see a pink cast on your white windowsill?:
The M21H is the only 21700 side switch TIR light from convoy. I got mine with the XPH70.3 HI 4000K 70CRI, beautiful neutral tint, maybe really slightly rosy but I think it’s really close to 0 dUV.
I tried it with the standard 12 degree, the 36 degree and the striped TIRs.
From those the 12 degree is definitely the most useful, nice and smooth, no tint shift, decent throw.
The striped is not half bad for a bicycle light.
The 36 degree was a bit of a disappointment for me. It’s pure flood, but the flood is not that wide so it’s usable in a very narrow distance range, something like 1-5 meters. Closer up it’s not wide enough, farther away the immediate surrounding is too bright to see stuff in the distance
Is there much of a difference between the two? I mean, I understand that high CRI comes at some cost, but is that consequential (I guess it must be - otherwise everybody will be going for R9050, or maybe it’s a tint?)
