What did you mod today?

This is such a a cool, asymmetric configuration! I originally thought you cut off one optic from a Carclo quad, until I saw the legs.

Wonder how the beam is from the mule. I’d worry that a lot of the light might be obstructed by the TIR and the interior surface of the flashlight head.

It does get obstructed by both. It’s still enough light to compensate. And it looks like a mushroom cloud. LOL!

But you really only notice up close. It’ll still easily light up a room.

Love that Argyle pattern!

Going for quick-and-lazyiest mod award today, added a needle pin and tiny flathead screwdriver to my Victorinox waiter:

Hole for the needle pin existed already so was just a case of ordering correct parts and fitting them, pleased with the added functionality.

Edited to change needle to pin.

I’m not seeing a needle.

Where’d you order the screw driver from? I need one for mine.

I think I’ve spotted it: look closer towards the hinge point of the cork screw.

Oh, yeah! Good eye!

Yup that’s it! Most have a small hole in the scales here for a pin, the waiter is a low cost model so I assume these are left out for cost reasons.

Readily available online, Victorinox website was quite expensive, I ordered from an outdoor retailer who had good prices (UK) for a Victorinox Compact and a Rambler.

Because I like modding this platform D1/D1K/KR1. Another modded D1K. This time I went with NTG50 1800k and yellow/orange/red aux lights. Looks like fire!

What TIR did you use, and did you have to make any other modifications to fit the TIR?

1 Thank

It’s a Ledil Olga-S TiR. I had to put an o-ring around the top of the optics to fill the small gap between the optics and lens. That’s it!

Thank you!

That looks like an Olga-M to me. Olga-S looks like this:

Valid!

I had put the S in a different light. Oops! I may still change it out in this light. I like it better.

@mcjtom something you might like, I put a SFT-40 3000K in my IF19 instead of the original SST-40.

Beamshot comparison (warning, just a phone pic and not necessarily at the same settings):

And my usual 2 pictures, wine cellar indoor and wineyard outdoor. The light got crazy throwy not, with a tiny spot, and a much dimmer (but still wide) flood. Quite interesting beam profile overall.

Designing drivers by day and illuminating vinyards by night, you’ve got it made :ok_hand::ok_hand::ok_hand:

Sick mod!

I’m curious, did the foil tape increase the output by a measurable amount, or alter the beam profile? I’m very curious what the losses are like for these giant TIRs.

It’s been my fault:

Just Convoy T5 with B35AM 3500K, 30 deg lens and 2A driver

Made no spring mod just replaced button top Vapcell F15 with a flat top H10 which is about 3-4 mm shorter.

I wish @Simon_Mao offered this as an option.
