My Ganzo 707 automatic knife arrived today. It came out of the box pretty sharp. I may touch it up a bit.
It seems well made. It doesn’t have a “safety” button like some automatics do to keep it from engaging in your pocket.
I won’t be carrying it in my pocket anyway. The button is almost flush and the spring isn’t so strong that the blade would rip your pocket out. The sharp area of the blade wouldn’t be exposed unless the knife came all the way out.
The is the only knife that I’ve gotten so far that I haven’t been able to remove the clip. I used heat treatment but the screw head stripped out before I could get it out. I”ll work on it more later.
It’s a fun “toy”. This is what I ordered with my $20 BLFgiveaway raffle “win”.
That K611 looks lovely, I especially like what they did with those gold colored liners. I don’t think I would have noticed it had you not posted that picture. Thanks!
Btw isti - Your review site is awesome, I find the multi-angle high resolution pictures very useful in making purchasing decisions. Thanks again, and keep up the great work!
I got the Lansky extra, extra fine sapphire stone (2,000 grit) as well as the Lansky C-clamp for this system.
My impression before receiving the C-clamp was that $15 was a lot of money for a C-clamp but I new that it was modified to work as a stand for the Lansky system so I bought it anyway.
Now I agree that it is worth $15! It’s quite a bit bigger and heavier than I had envisioned.
I got the Lansky system (stone hones) today. I’m still figuring out the finer points but it seems like a good system.
The rods are hard to have completely inline with the stone hone. Generally you need to bend them a bit. I won’t be pressing them into the little holders in the box lid either as it’s very hard to get them out. I’ll be keeping them in the box loose.
I’m still getting used to exactly where to place the blade so that the hone doesn’t hit the front of the knife holder on the unit itself.
The C-clamp I got works very well. I still need to support the back of the bracket of the “system” with my hand. The C-clamp doesn’t move but the bracket does.
I wouldn’t think the angle is as repeatable as people say but it’s probably close enough to not matter. The only reason that it’s not completely repeatable is that there are too many variables that can change.
What I really like is the wide variety of grits. Five stones come with the kit and I ordered a sixth so I have extra course, course, medium, fine, extra fine, and very fine (2,000 grit).
I also got the Arkansas Tri-Hone system today but haven’t had a chance to do much with it yet. These stones are all glued to a triangular base and come with a wooden U shaped box to hold the stones while you are using them.
You just rotate the stones for course, medium, and fine. The stones are silicon carbide (rough), soft Arkansas stone (medium) and hard Arkansas stone (fine).
Dimlux got it right . You never know how big ( or small )knives and flashlights are when you see them on the internet . I liked the look of the knife and bought it on a whim . It's actually too small to get any real torque out of it . This is a tiny tool .
