What wildlife did you spot tonight?

Used screen shot to bring in closer. As you can see phone stats at top!

Cochise334ever, 1st off, Welcome to BLF!

Those are some great snapshots! I am surprised to be able to photograph owls but foxes are some of the most skittish creatures I barely even see!

Thanks. Sometimes you get lucky.Usually they keep their distance.I also notice sometimes after they run in the woods,a few minutes later I will see them about 75 yards behind me and folowing me.

Edir:I have a flying squirrel on here somwhere. They are the absolute most difficult to get a photo.I got lucky once, and thats all it wasā€¦once. It landed on a tree and frozeā€¦scared of the light I guess.I have to look for that one.

Flying squirrel.Only picture I ever got and I have seen dozens and dozens over the years.

I'm just about 200 miles away from the nearest flying squirrel populations in the States so they are definitely a curiosity for me.

I had at least one experience with a screech owl, recently, where I used a C8+ to observe it from about 75 meters. The best I thought I could do was get a recording of it but even that proved elusive.

I got within 15 to 18 feet from the Owl before it flew away.

I have gotten other pics of Owls before. That is the closest I got and the best picture.

EDIT: I never saw a Bald Eagle until 5 years ago. I have seen them about a Dozen times but never got a good picture .One time was at night.I heard a loud noise ,pointed my torch high up in tree as he flew away.

The last Eagle I saw a few weeks ago, there were Two flying together.Couldnā€™t get a photo.

in nyc the only wildlife i saw today was a roach, but it was too quick , it ran under cove base before i could take its picture. now Iā€™m not sure if i should consider roaches a wildlife, seems more like domesticated animals

Lol! Darn squatters.

I used to attempt to pick off mice in an apartment with a BB gun. Fun for sport.

Praying Mantis

Cool!

Saw some raccoons in October. I took this with my phoneā€™s flash iirc because the only light I had on me was my LEP and that would be inhumane.

Such characters!

I saw those eyes up in the tree (OP) from a good distance away and they stayed put when I was under them. How long did this pair hang out with you?

They hung around on the fence completely frozen for about a minute when I had them lit up with my phoneā€™s LED. My LEP probably shocked them earlier before I saw them. Imagine suddenly looking into the sun in the middle of the night.

I feel for my dogs with their enhanced night vision! That photo reminds me of the first time I found a possum in my backyard:

Oh, the cute racoons!

They look like furry little bears wearing a mask. :sunglasses:

The poor things are always hungry, they can eat nearly anything but never get enough to eat.

They have no predators, and have no fear of humans. :innocent:

They have really strong grips and sharp claws that can rip up shingles and tear thru roof decking.

Once they get in your attic or crawlspace they will have a party and toss the place like an ATF raid.

They are near impossible to get out or keep out once they have moved in.

Oh, damn those evil racoons. :rage:

Kenny Bobby the atf is actually rather mild compared to a bunch of raccoons!

Maybe like some revenuers breakin up moonshine stills.

i went to a party at a friends place; at first she thought they were cute and needed feedin, now they start bangin down the door if it ainā€™t out there by 9:30

Enabling masked bandits? LOL!

Worse than mice, better than bears! ;)

Very cute!

Because I was racing to work tonight I didnā€™t get a chance to stop and question the jogger, but I turned the corner as he jogged in the opposite direction and he was either being chased by two deer or they were his running partners. They were running at the same pace as him less than 5 feet behind him. Weird
