I got orders from mtn, oshpark, and radioshack today. Including some zeners, kapton tape, 7135’s, and a bunch of wight’s boards. Looks like I’ll be busy reflowing drivers for awhile
My Fenix TK61 arrived today. It’s certainly impressive in size. But pulling it apart has left me a little disappointed with the quality. I must admit I expected more for the money. Plastic reflector, lens that barely covers the opening of the bezel, emitter not perfectly centred. I have no doubt it will perform well once I have finished modding it. But it would have been nice if it was of the same quality as my TN31/TN35 etc.
Received Convoy M1 host, new version that has matte anodisation, I hate it, can’t stay clean 30 seconds, every dust particle is visible also fingerprint magnet. I think I am going to strip anodisation if I find something that can do the job. On other hand I installed XM-L2 in 7A warm white tint and I quite like that tint…
I got my UltraFire 1226 and TrustFire Z6 zoomie in the mail today. Put a fresh battery in the Z6 and tried it out. It worked nice. I then zoomed it out and noticed that I had all those little dots on the little square spot. I said no way, turned it off and looked into the front of the light. Instead of seeing a green LED, I saw silver. My $12.66 TrustFire Z6 zoomie didn’t come with a XM-L, it came with a XM-L2.
EDIT:
I was cleaning up my desk and when I picked up the box that the Z6 came in, I heard something in it. I found a TrustFire quality control tag inside dated 2014 - 12 - 24. So they must still be making these things. And being new, that might explain the XM-L2.
I got my other TrustFire Z6 order today. The quality control tags for both lights were dated 2014-12-25 so I guess you could call them Christmas Lights.
I also got part of my Banggood order today. I got a nice pair of circlip pliers , 2mm drill bits for MCPCB screw holes. All I need is the taps and vernier caliper to arrive so I can start modding my TrustFire Z6’s.
I tore one down. It has a XM-L2 on a 26mm aluminum MCPCB. The MCPCB was epoxied down but I was able to pop it off with a small screwdriver. It doesn’t have a pill. It has a shelf like you would find on the new Convoy M1 and M2 but the shelf is anodized.
Do you get metric screws from an auto parts store? I didn’t find any metric screws in a US hardware store and took two out of an old bent pair of binoculars to use in the CNQ zoomy host I built up.
