Today I got some PD68 lighted tailcap boards from OSHPark.
A Skilhunt DS10 and DS20 from Gearbest.
I found some interesting about them. The current is very low for my taste. The DS10 draws 0.65A on highest mode and the DS20 draws 1A.
The DS10 blinking low voltage warning from 3,25V but works down to 0,8V. The tubes compatible each other because the head is the same except driver. The tailcap has bigger thread on DS20 because the DS10 has smaller hole in tube and only works with 16340.
The anodizing on the heads are the exact same but the DS20 tube and tailcap has a more matte color.
The DS20 with its low power and e-switch with side indicator window is shouting at me to change the driver to a FET driver with Narsil firmware and use the status led blinking through that hole! The Led star also need change or maybe with led because the star is aluminum.
They were so cheap. I got them at a very good time and they were only 13$ and 10$(this with points)
Bleh to me :person_facepalming: Forgot to post on the day of arrival that I got two packs of AR-coated lenses from Convoy! Derp :confounded:
The S2’s lens fits snug and beautiful, but the C8’s rattles in the assembly. I’m concerned with how waterproof it is now, and don’t even wanna try to check it out.
I think so. I can screw the bezel all the way in and there’s still room for the lens to waggle. I sent a message to Simon and he asked if I hadn’t lost the front o-ring (even prompted to send me a pair, he’s a peach), but nope, it’s there as it always was. I think I’m gonna ring up either him or J-Dub and suggest they use thicker gaskets.
I did a pneumatic test on the detached head (and by that I mean I made an airtight tube between my mouth and the bezel and blew; maybe not the best idea, but never said I was smart!) and as I suspected, I got wind on the other end. It’s not fluidproof at all. Not that it’s gonna stop me from using it, it’s a great little torch – if I’m expecting bad weather, I’ll swap the AR lens up for the original one, which was far less cracked than I thought.
Overall, yes. It appears well made. The USB ports don’t actually reach 2.5A when charging my Nexus 5x. It’s closer to 2A.
Just to be clear, this is just a plug adapter (for most of the world’s countries) with some USB ports. It’s not a power bank. It has no built in battery of any sorts.
