Which one is your favorite AA flashlight

it seems that it is a good choice.

No idea what’s a KR1, so can’t say. I just like the 'micro for what it does. Pencil beam, lit switch when off, simple UI that does all I need.

No idea the “max” even existed. Really hate when vastly different lights are named the same except for a suffix like “max”, “pro”, “v2”, etc.

Sometimes, the new LED chip improved a lot, thus the manufacturer change the led, them named it “V2” “V3”.
In 2013, i worked for Fenix and 12 years passed, TK35 and TK20 are still the old style, but the led chip changed.

That about how I feel with Convoy. There isn’t much to distinguish the different series of lights they offer on their website. I guess they don’t need to selling a niche product to hobbyists but I still find it somewhat annoying.

I agree with you. TS10 V2 is for 14500 and TS10 MAX is for 18650. It’s very confusing.

Definitely the D3AA. Been gobbling these up lately! So many options to customize.

This KR1AA is the next AA/14500 light I plan to buy:

uses same driver as D3AA, but the head is 3mm narrower..

I havent been as excited about a new light, since the D3AA came out.. But I dont carry my D3AA because of the bulbous head and cheesegrater form factor (sharp corners on the head fins, and a knurled body).

I much prefer smooth form factor lights that slide in and out of pocket easily.

The AA Zebras have great form factor, but the lack of Anduril really cramps my style

I expect the KR1AA will be longer, but I prefer that it uses a tailswitch.. (as long as it resists accidental activation without requiring lockout).

Im a big fan of the TS10, because of the tailswitch (I dont use Lockout)..

Only issue w the TS10 is it can not be physically locked out.. I expect the KR1AA will have the same limitation as it also uses a dual body tube.

Oh, so the KR1 is an 18650. The 'micro is 14500. That’s part of the appeal, making them think it’s a toy, then lighting up shiite far away.

Otherwise, I got the CatMini, IF22A, etc., depending how big I need to go.

Even my C8 mod with XP-E2 that got decent reach, and runs forever on a 3400mAH cell.

I think the hate on the knurling on these D3AA’s is slightly overblown. Yes, its aggressive but it’s not that much worse than a lot of pocket knives with G10 handle scales, which happen to be a favorite of mine…so I guess maybe I could be a little bias haha. I don’t these lights to be an issue though.

What are the LEDs on these three?

In the second photo where they are turned on, from left to right they are FFL351A 2700k, FFL351A 4000k (rosy bin), NTG35 1800k

Was the camera WB set to 4000K?

By all indications, the KR1AA continues to drive my excitement for a new AA/14500 light:

I love small lights with Anduril ;-).. the KR1AA has a good chance of superseding my TS10 V2 and TS10SG… (the D3AA formfactor never worked for me.. too much of a cheese grater, and very floody)

really looking forward to the new KR1AA

Hey Jon, any idea of when this is supposed to be released?

I have not seen a release date, price, weight, or throw specs for the KR1AA yet

this thread is the source of all my info… suggest you watch there for updates

1 Thank

Currently it’s been the Manker E05 II Nichia version. The KR1AA is looking very promising!

3 Thanks

How about a vegetable peeler then?

That’s pretty funny!
It looks like it kinda gets some carrot mess in your flashlight, though. :carrot:
