WTS - Thrunite TN30 - 12x Nichia 219B, FET driver, Fully Modded, with Samsung 30Q Cells - Australia - Comparison Beamshots Up

Hi All,

Update 08/04/16 I gave up on selling this light, but as my collection has grown this light doesn't get the use it deserves. In fact I haven't used it since I first posted this thread :(

I am reluctantly putting my fully customised one of a kind Thrunite TN30 up for sale.

I have a considerable amount of time and money invested into this light and that combined with the fact it is a one of a kind light, all mods have been carried out to a very high standard and the final finish of the light is immaculate means I am selling it for what I believe it is worth when compared to other modified lights which people are selling out there. If it doesn't sell, so be it I will be happy to keep it, but it truly is a great light.

Anyway, onto the light!

Details are as follows:

- Thrunite TN30 XM-L2 (base light)

- 12x Nichia 219BT-V1 90CRI min. emitters from IOS

- 3oz copper DTP Noctigon pulled out of an M43 Meteor

- BLF17DD FET driver with Guppydrv Rev.1 firmware from MTN electronics. It is the original double sided FET driver which handles high power builds better. The driver has been mounted to the original driver board which has been stripped to use as a contact board

- 4x Carclo 10507 Optics

- Custom machined 417g pure copper heatsink

- Copper heatsink is a slip fit into the head and has Arctic Silver 5 between the MCPCB and heatsink and the heatsink and original emitter shelf

- UCLp lens from flashlightlens.com

- Fully modified switch, bypassing all original tailcap components with 18AWG silicone wire connections

- Battery carrier traces have all been doubled up with a run of Chemtools copper braid

- All springs have been resistance modified with Chemtools copper braid

- New red silicone oring between the lens and bezel

- Double run of 22AWG silicone wire to ground ring of driver

- 18AWG silicone wire direct from ground to FET leg

- 18AWG silicone wire from FET to emitters

- 22AWG silicone wire from positive battery spring to power the driver

- 18AWG silicone wire direct from positive spring to emitters

- Green GITD tailcap boot. I am happy to include black and light blue GITD boots if requested

- Comes with all original accessories including the original box, holster, spare orings, lanyard, manual etc.

I will also include 3x Samsung 30Q cells which I bought for this light and they haven't even had one cycle on them yet. This will be for Australian residents only as I can't post cells overseas.

Price is $420AUD including tracked shipping and PayPal fees within Australia.

Anyone wanting it from Perth is also welcome to pick it up and pay COD.

Thanks for looking!

Someone is getting a VERY nice light.

How did you get the copper slug/heatsink made? Ordered it online?

For those of us in the US who might want to pay the shipping costs, any idea?

I took a whole lot of measurements, drew a scale drawing of what I wanted, bought some copper from a local metal supplier and then took it to a machine shop which is owned by a friend of my dad’s and used his lathe. It took some time as copper is a pain to machine. Then I sanded the face with 800>1200>2000>3000 grit sandpaper and polished it with autosol metal polish.

I will look into postage costs and post up some options in case anyone else is interested.

Ok so I had a quick look on the Auspost website.

Sea mail - $30AUD (no tracking)
Air mail - $43AUD (no tracking)
Registered Post - $50AUD (no tracking)
Tracked Post - $50AUD

Not as bad as I was expecting actually. $50AUD is about $36.35USD

All the best for the sale LSX. It sure is a beauty.

Thanks Steve.

I think I will chuck it up on CPF as well. It might be a bit expensive around here.

Great light - sure is tempting. Must be hard to sell this light after all your work on it. The shipping to the US is quite reasonable imho. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for that. I don’t particularly want to sell it it is honestly one of the best lights I own, but I have another TN30 here so at some point I might build that one up in a similar way.

G'Day LSX,

Beautiful work!!

Best Regards,

George

Bump!

Thanks George!

I have edited the first post to include 3x Samsung 30Q cells with the light for Aus residents.

Bump including price drop.

Bump Bump

That is a SERIOUSLY nice light, LSX!! Good luck with the sale! :)

Thanks JM!

Hopefully someone wants to pick it up.

Have you measured output on it or did I miss that in the OP? I'd love to know what you managed to get out of it before you don't have it to measure. ;)

Nope no output measurements unfortunately. I don’t have a luxmeter. I have always meant to buy one but could never make a decision on which one to get so I ended up with none! Any recommendations? I could buy one and if it shows up in time I could take some measurements.

All I can do is compare to other known lights like the M43, TN36 etc.

I have a MASTECH LX1330B and love it. Very affordable too.

Bump for a beautiful light.

Thanks George. Beautiful enough for you to buy it? haha
