I’m having a bit of a problem with the button action of my new CuTI TS10. Pressing down on the button when my finger is placed dead center over the button works fine, but if I’m a little bit off center, the button often times gets wedged on the side and gets stuck until I finagle it out.
Has anyone else run into this problem and been able to fix it?
my TiCu TS10 button was binding a little when I first got it
I removed the battery from the light, and then spent a little time clicking and pressing the button at various angles to wear in whatever edges were binding… it was not difficult to solve the issue.
I hope it works for you too.
visual aide… the three switch parts are top right of this pic
Also thank you for the image of the disassembled light. I was curious about that. The light does weird things sometimes like the rgb will shine blue when the light is turned on instead of the main leds. I think the copper shavings are maybe getting into spots it shouldn’t be.
Sorry about that. I tried removing the tail cap because I wanted to ultimately remove the inner tube. I wanted to make sure no copper shavings went between the inner tube and the titanium case. I had no idea the tail cap was glued in. I thought I was just weak! I have four of the v1 ts10s and never attempted to remove the tail cap on those because I never had any problems with them.
The weird unexpected RGB behavior was not the Post Off Voltage display unfortunately. I turned that feature off the day I got the light (after I figured out what it was!). I was aware of the copper shavings problem from this forum before I received the light, so I was diligent about cleaning it out and re-lubing after screwing/unscrewing the head multiple times. But I must have “missed a spot” the last time. I have the light set to display the battery level/voltage display using the rgb colors when the light is off (made post off voltage display redundant). The weird unexpected behavior happened when I turned on the light, instead of the main white led turning on, the rgb switched to blue as if that was the main light. Turning off the light brought back the rgb battery level/voltage display. The main light just would not turn on. I reset the firmware and that didn’t help. It only started working again after I re-cleaned the head.
Back to the main topic, I worked the button a number of times, and I think it’s better? I can still manage to get it jammed if pressing the button with an accidental slide to the side. I think I just need to be mindful of that.
thanks for the update, I hope the sticky button continues to improve
you can also try rotating the button a bit… the tendency for the button to jam is mostly because it is titanium, in contact with the titanium tailcap…
Titanium tends to stick to itself… you could also use a very tiny bit of oil at the edge of the button if rotating it, and manipulation are not enough to prevent it from sticking.
not sure what caused the Blue LEDs to turn on, hopefully that wont happen again. Since you already disabled post off voltage, Im glad you eliminated that possibility. If the issue returns, please post again, ad we can investigate further… hopefully your cleaning process was the fix.
I hope you enjoy your light, it sounds like youre well informed and doing everything right in terms of clearing out any copper shavings…
