Wurkkos TS30S + monster LED SBT90.2 = $60 4750lm 1km SUPER-Thrower. Comparison w/ TS30S Pro & other lights incl. the :-) insane 13000 lm Nightwatch Valkyrie. (Summary & measurements on P. 1)

Did you get yours today?

Looks like the TS30S Pro comes to $57 USD on AE (after $5 Wurkkos discount and $9 AE $3 off per $20 discount). This is with a battery. $54 without.

Seem like a good deal. If it had a good (fully regulated buck) driver I’d be interested. Sadly it doesn’t so I’ll pass.

Very nice. Price hitting bottom again, but no gifts this time right?

Almost feel like I should order a second one :slightly_smiling_face:.

Come one guys, it cost $15 to make. Even at $57 they are making 300% profit.

China is a manufacturing country, they can make anything better and cheaper than anyone on the planet.

No. Awfully close as it is now in LA somewhere, but still a couple days off.

My Wurkkos TS30S Pro arrived. Bought it while it was still at the lower price with coupon, so for that price, this is a pretty cool light.

The SBT90 bin tint seems average. The Convoy L8 I got still has the least green SBT90 (but it also has green-AR lens). I have greener SBT90s - my Manker MC13 SBT90 is the greenest I have seen. This SBT90 seems to sit somewhere in between in on the green tint scale, comparable to a Manker U22 SBT90 I have.

There doesn’t seem to be an AR lens, neither purple nor green. It just looks clear. Lens diameter seems about 55-56mm, but that was a pretty rough measurement with a pocket tape measure… Though, purple AR does supercharge the green tint of the SBT90 anyway as far as I’ve noticed with other lights, so I’m not that upset. The bezel unscrewed pretty easy using the back of a mousepad, so I guess if I could source an AR lens of the right size it would be an easy swap. It doesn’t look like Convoy’s 58mm AR lens would fit in this…

Throw seems right in between my Manker U22 (claims 900m) and Convoy L8 (claims 1461m), which is what I’d expect based on the quoted numbers from Wurkkos (1086m).

There are definite rings around the edge of the spill coming from maybe the white gasket at the bottom of the reflector? It doesn’t seem to be the bezel? Most noticeable on high or turbo, tolerable on mid or lower settings.

Size-wise this is way more compact than my Convoy L8, though compared to that almost anything feels compact. Maybe feels similar in size to something like a Thrunite Catapult Pro, so given how far this thing throws, still relatively compact.

The construction on this thing feels solid and durable, comparable to Convoy, and it looks pretty sharp. It does not feel or look like a budget light at all.

Other than that seems to be pretty much what it says on the tin, a solid Anduril 2 SBT90 thrower. Really, the only gripe I could say about it is the rings on the edge of the beam.

Thanks for the writeup. Did it need the thermal stepdown adjusted like the TS30S did? And are you using the Wurkkos battery?

@elemental thanks for sharing. I like comparison when reviewing and yours is great. How many SBT 90 lights do you have?

Green reflection AR lens is surely one I wish Wurkkos had added. Even though I am willing to pay for one from after-market companies like UCL, it’s not available. From an earlier post (the 2 below have purple and blue reflection, not green):

UCL made two AR lenses that fit, one acrylic and one glass. Either one fits perfectly and impressively they achieved ~98.4% of max brightness (ie versus no lens), and ~4% improvement over Wurkkos’s OEM non-coated lens.

I think I own more SBT90 flashlights than a mentally healthy individual should. I plead the 5th.

Looks like Kaidomain has some 54.8mm/55mm (blue?) AR lenses. I am going to order some and see if they fit…

Re: Frizzwicky - I haven’t touched thermal settings yet, but I mostly only use turbo in bursts so rarely bothers me. I didn’t use the Wurkkos battery because I have always had issues with shipping anything with batteries in it from China stores, so I always order without battery these days. I used a Molicel P45B I got from the 18650 Battery Store.

Have you tried the ones UCL ones from Flashlightlens.com ? DO they fit properly in the TS30S Pro?. I was going to buy a couple, but not if I am not sure that they will fit the light when it get here.

As far as I can see, a 52mm lens would probably be too small. I don’t have a 52mm lens to test, but, it looks like it would just barely be held in place by the bezel, with maybe 1mm of overlap on each side at best. Something larger seems like it would work better?

Complete guess here (correct me as needed pls):

Old TS30S has 55mm head, my 51.3 mm lens fits.
New TS30S PRO has 61 mm head, so I’m thinking that 58.2 mm lens from Simon may fit?

I just PM’ed Simon to ask if his 58.2 mm lens has green reflection.

Please let me know what he says… and if it fits if you get one.
THX!

And what’s the advantage of a green reflecting lens?

Are the rings you are describing similar to those seen in previous version of the TS30s here? I would expect that to be from the stainless bezel, but I don’t know. I’m mainly curious what it looks like.

(from the Taschenlampe beamshot thread)

Similar-ish pattern, but different. The rings are sharper lines, like the outer ring you see there, and there are a few of them. The location is similar.

Here is what I tried - I removed the bezel, put it back on, etc. and the rings did not change at all.

I tried placing my thumb over the side of the lens over the bezel and/or top edge of the reflector, no difference to the rings.

I tried putting my thumb over just the center of the lens where the spill from the LED comes out, and the rings disappeared completely.

So as far as I can tell, it is coming from something near the very bottom of the reflector or the gasket around the LED? Bezel or no bezel makes no difference. Even if the bezel was matte black, I think there would still be rings.

If the gasket and/or board surface was black, maybe the rings would go away? I had a similar problem with a Convoy Z1 I modded and I had to use some RIT Dyemore and dye the plastic gasket black to get rid of the ringing. But that was a zoomie, everything has to be blacked out that doesn’t get projected out the aspheric lens of the Z1.

From my rough tape measure experiment, 58.2mm would be too big to fit inside without sanding off several mm of diameter.

I think I have a hack to work around the rings!

I started just trying to measure the lens, seems to be 55mm by 2mm approximately. I figured since I already got dust in the reflector, why not try to figure it out?

I tried taking the gasket out, reflector sitting on the board. Rings. Tried blocking off the bottom of the reflector to make the gasket artificially taller. Still rings.

Then I took out the lens, but left the reflector in, and… no rings!

Tried taking the 50mm green AR lens I have from my Pioneman K55. It’s too small to stay under the bezel, but fits in the mouth of the reflector… The rings came back…? Positioned it ever so perfectly so it fell inside the mouth of the reflector a bit, and the rings mostly faded away… WTF? FWIW, the green AR may have made a slight hard to notice difference in the green tint, but probably not much vs the uncoated glass.

But that gave me an idea. The Pioneman’s 50mm AR lens has an o-ring on it of same diameter (I think 50mm OD) sitting between it and the Pioneman’s bezel… So I flipped it upside down, to use that o-ring to block the upper rim of the reflector from the glass… and rings gone! I used the o-ring trick with the original 55mm lens, and rings still gone!

It seems like it’s that upper last mm of curved rim at the top of the reflector that’s interacting with the lens to make those weird rings.

Did some more experimenting - if you put something like a flat washer in between the rim of the reflector and the lens (or rather, under the lens), with an ID of like 48mm to block that part from shining into the lens, it also seems to work almost as well as the o-ring strategy.

And what’s your solution for the TS30S Pro?

It’s here!!
