But they’ve got to pay import duties, freight, tax, gst, staff and all the other things Aussie companies use as excuses to justify expensive pricing that their competitors also have to manage as well, so go easy upon them.
Anyhow, the more we support them, the more justification they’ve got in pressuring wholesalers, distributors and importers.
You didn’t thing they get their stock directly from Fenix, did you ?
I whole heartedly appreciate the frustration of being gouged due to the hemisphere and indeed country we both reside within Waves an angry fist in the direction of Jerry Harvey, wholesalers, distributors, importers and suppliers artificially inflating pricing by time it reaches the retailers
Oh and Dick Smith is a hypocritical sell out.
I’ve been advised he made his fortune selling electronic parts sourced from Asia, not from Aussie companies!
He helped kill that industry here. walks off grumbling more about global inadequacies in a global economy while seeking something cold and stiff to placate my nerves
I doubt he is making stacks of profit after all the expenses listed in previous posts.
The few local vendors we have here can rarely compete with China except on occasional "specials" and their prices always seem higher overall. As well as costs, you need to remember that they are unlikely to be moving the volumes the OS vendors are.
I've no sympathy for the likes of JH or DS but a small shop starting up selling lighting gear is a brave venture and I wish them the best. I can only hope that as more shops start moving product, more people will find out about some of the great stuff available these days. Bigger volumes, lower prices and so on. But it may take a few years as flashlights (torches here) seem to remain a niche market.
Sorry to say that I can't afford these prices either. Budget Light Forums is going to be a hard place to sell anything as by nature we are no doubt all somewhat better informed than the average customer.
