Xiaomi 16000mAh powerbank

Perhaps Xiaomi buys by the thousands of cells….I wonder how many of us will be required to avail of such discount that they are getting

They surely aren’t buying them by thousands, more like hundreds of millions

@will34 : Interesting they changed the cells in Xiaomi 10000 mAh from Sanyo NCR18650BL 3350mAh to LG. The specified max discharge rate for LGABF1L1865 is only 1,5C, not 2C as for NCR18650BL. I assume LG cells have less capacity at higher currents. For me capacity at 4A discharge is important - can you maybe test LG cells at that current?

Opus test is finished and got these results:

Not bad at all!

This power bank even specifies the output capacity of 6,250mAh at 5V1A which translates to 31Wh and 86% efficiency, lower of course when draw is 2A. Given that an iPhone 6 needs ~8Wh to fully charge this pack can provide almost 4 charges. This is actually the best I’ve seen for the size and price.

Tried one in my triple XP-L X6 and got 7.47A compared to 9.8A with a 30Q. So my best guess is that the LG F1 and Sanyo BL are both close in performance but the LG being a Korean cell is sightly cheaper.

At 1A discharge rate this cell can keep up pretty decently, so having 3 in parallel is more than enough for 5V2A output. As for single-cell flashlight use I think there are much better alternatives like the 30Q.

Is that capacity test with Opus @1A discharge down to 2.5V?

have you set opus to 4.3votls ?

No, it is set to 4.2V stock setting.

1A discharge. I’m not sure about the voltage, I just set it to charge test all night and the cells were fully charged again when I woke up.

Does anyone know if these Xiaomi batteries are built to handle proper 2A output to both Apple and Samsung devices or if they are generally best for generic devices? I know many charges are not capable of doing 2A to all types of devices.

oh i see these are 4.2volts ones not 4.35v ..

opus discharges till 2.9volts i think

really nice test will34!!!
at about actual 12$ for a xiaomi 10000 it’s cheaper to buy it and use the internal batteries….instead to separately buy them XD XD XD
i really hope that xiaomi would never use bad stock of ells…… to buy them at so much low price.
i hope cell quality are always grade A in all powerbanks shipped

Is this Sanyo/LG cell considered a high drain battery?

Not at all, this LG F1 is more like the Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh, works well but only under 3A. There is no need for xiaomi to use a high drain battery since the draw is close to 1A even at 2A output, given the cells are in parallel.

I initially intended to extract the cells from the other xiaomi power bank but realized these weren’t of much use for flashlight applications, in a noctigon meteor they are not better than my old Panasonic BD.

Possible applications for the LG F1 is low drain flashlights or in a bike light battery case in 2S2P.

Some numbers with my cheap DMM testing in a triple XP-L setup:
LG F1: 6.2A
Samsung 25R: 8.7A
Samsung 30Q 9.5A

Thx for the info @will34. Greatly appreciated.

A question for 10000, 16000 and 20000 powerbank users. Does it have pass through charging. i.e. powerbank itself is charging from the wall while you are charging devices from it.

Yes they do have pass through charging, but I think efficiency will still drop a bit…
