This is my third light from Crelant, and after one week from receipt decided to share my opinion, and how impressed I am, with very good quality-price ratio from Crelant flashlights. Also Crelant light have one of the unique UI known as infinitely variable brightness or dimming from 1% to 100% which I like a lot. Strobe and SOS modes are hidden and you can preset your output however you like ,or depending on the application.

It came in very nice military-style packaging

Spare O-rings and lenyard are included

Deep and shiny OP reflector with perfectly centerd XM-L2

There is no AR coating, but glass is really clear and 2,5mm thick

Compared to BLF A6, Crelant reflector is wider and deeper

bezels seems to be stainless steel, witch can be very helpful

Perfect tipe III Ano,and good knurling makes very nice feeling in hand, also side switch is in perfect place just under your thumb.

With 134 mm lenght its more close to EE X6 then Convoy S2,or A6

ss clip is the same as on X6

threads are sguare on both sides, and prelubed

There is no pill, integrated shelf for LED makes heat transfer much better

Springs are a bit long for my taste but 1mm in thickness. Forword tactical switch feels nice on touch and can stand

HI amps from driver.

Driver is protected with plastic, which can be easy removed

Big plastic centering ring above LED and aluminium mcpcb

Reflector sits on that plastic ring, with no moving around

Really thick glass,and O ring

I have done some measurements with thick copper wire instead standard probes and get 3.01 Amp on tailcap at start with LG HG2 fully charged, and 2.88A after 15-20 sec, which is very impressive and close to the 960 claim lumens.

Beam pattern look almost identical to BLF A6,but due to dipeer reflector hotspot is a little smaller, and

does have better throw.. (150-200 meters)

Because camera auto setings you almost can't see the difference from 5 meters between this two lights.

In real A6 is about 20-30% brighter on turbo as expected, but on level 6 output is identical.

Mouse over for Crelant 7G3CS

A6 is on turbo,Crelant on HI

Again mouse over for Crelant

Impressions:

As I said at the beginning I am really pleased with this flashlight, and I think that is the right budget option for those who want excellent quality and unique user interface for a fraction of how much would you pay for a more well-known brand,as a Nitecore P12,and others similar flashlights.

Cons:

Might be too long for someones taste as a EDC light, more tint option would be nice

OP updated,enjoy

that nice review is worthy of at least 1 reply  A decent purchase at $23. And YES, that glass is THICK!

Thanks for the review. I have not seen this light before, but I think I like it. Infinitely variable brightness sounds pretty sweet!

Yep it’s a nice light. If others are interested in buying, you should also read the review done on the Ultrafire C20 clone here on BLF

Just checked out the C20 review. This light has been around a little while, but it’s the first time iv’e seen it. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks guys ,this review is my firs and took me 3-4 hours to post . Ultrafire C20 is a nice light but outdated with cree, and it will remain as a CLONE if you ask me. Crelant is using much better buck driver and can provide higher Amps.
Here is the pic of driver, and as you can see totaly different then UF

Main problem with Crelant lights is that they “forget” mode settings when you replace the battery or even operate the tail switch, also they could add one more mode “slot”.
Otherwise, 7G3CS is gareth all around flashlight, it’s too big to be EDC, too narrow to be a thrower, not realy a floodlight either but I liked mine very much and I am sorry that I had to sold it to buy other flashlight.

Just came across this, great review thanks for posting this. I bought the UF C20 back in 2013 after reading JackCY’s excellent review here on BLF. IIRC I paid more than this Crelant costs now, and at the time I believe the Crelant was around $45.

I was sold on the UF20 because I liked the look and protection provided by the SS bezels at both ends, the dual switches with side mode/standby switch, and the ramping UI with 2 user adjustable memory presets. I also liked that it had a voltage range of operation from 3.0V up to 6.0V that like the 7G3CS allows use of 2xCR123a batteries for back up if electrical power is not available for recharging the L-ion battery.

The most important feature for me is the Tactical forward tail switch that ALWAYS turns the light on in high, overriding any memory, a feature that IMO is mandatory for a tactical light.

I agree at 12.6mm longer than a Convoy S6 it’s a bit long for EDC, however it’s still pocket-able. It’s the only pocket-able light I own with a forward tactical tail switch (always starts in high mode). Although the somewhat deeply recessed button is a slight con for tactical use, it’s a plus for solid tailstanding.

The C20 was rated at 800LM with its (now outdated) XML U2 emitter, it was quite bright for 2013 standards. I didn’t know the 7G3CS had a different driver than the C20, I’m wondering if the Crelant driver has been updated since it’s original version?

Yes the C20 driver looks different than the current Crelant 7G3CS driver however the C20’s also is a “custom switching buck driver” (according to JackCY’s review) The C20 was rated at 2400mA vs 2000mA for the Crelant at the time, and in the review it was tested to pull nearly 2 amps at the tail on max at 4.2v.

On the C20 the ramping feature is a bit slow in starting, (about 3 seconds before I notice it beginning to dim) I wonder if the new 7G3CS is faster to start ramping? Slightly annoying but not really a con because I don’t really use the ramping except to change or reset the mode level presets.

I have always wanted to swap the emitter in my C20 to a NW and it’s still on my modding “to do” list. Lately I’ve been thinking of swapping it to an XPL-HI. The light has a pretty deep reflector (19mm).

There are two other important differences I noticed between the C20 and latest Crelant 7G3CS:

  1. The C20’s reflector is SMO vs OP for the Crelant. (I wonder if the C20 reflector would fit in the 7G3CS, the C20’s lens thickness is 1.55mm)
  2. The 7G3CS has a removable tailcap vs one piece unibody for the C20.

With the great price right now on the 7G3CS I’m very tempted to get one and swap the emitter to a NW XPL-HI, and possibly use the C20 SMO reflector.

Thanks beam0,I was really amazed with this 7G3CS, and as I said in the review 3.01 Amp at the tail with fresh LG HG2 it’s really bright…
At the moment there is EagleEye X5R at GearBest with Hp-l hi for 26-27$,and I would love have one… if I get it will do a review too

I have a couple of 7g6 lights they have a larger reflector…

good lights but the low voltage protection is a pain they go into strobe mode

are the 7g3 lights the same?

UI is the same as I know, but I never go down to kick low voltage protection. Having over 40pcs. Of 18650 at the moment so usually change them at 3,4v.

thanks ,I will prob end up changing the drivers ,one day.as I don’t use the ramping.
but they are good solid bits of kit. thanks for the review/input

Posting this here for 7G3CS fans, This one from Acebeam is pretty much exactly the same size and form (less the stainless bezels) and also has dual switches.

Notice the shockingly familiar design of the finned section around the switch! Real nice color options too, I really like the “bare” aluminum and the desert Sand.

I’ve also been considering this Crelant, the big brother to the 7G3CS, AVAILABLE IN NEUTRAL TINT 4300K, and the same price as the 7G3CS!

It would of been nice if it also had a stainless bezel.

Just got my warm white version of the 7G3CS yesterday. The variable feature is neat; and it ramps up and down slowly. Mine does “forget” the setting. Does feel and look very nice, so I concur that the price/quality ratio is very good.

Man that is some thick glass. I just dropped mine on my xhp70 hd2010 and it shattered on the floor thin flimsy glass. Well now I have a excuse to get a UCLp for it. After it gets repaired.

JB how do you like the 5c tint?

I’ve decided to get one of these as an upgrade to my Ultrafire C20 clone. I’m trying to decide between the 5c or the CW XPL I’m leaning towards the 5c but if the XPL is not too cold I’d maybe consider that for the xtra output.

Does anyone know the kelvin temps of this (crelant) 5c and/or the CW XPL version ?

Also Is anyone using an 18350 tube on one of these?

I don’t have any 18350 tubes but a Convoy S2+ tube (with convoy tailcap) does fit and works great on the UltraFire C20 clone, a BLF A6 tube also works but the convoy tube fits much better.

If the C20 clone and the 7G3CS lego (?) then hopefully a convoy S2+ 18350 shorty tube can work on the Crelant too.

I’ll also need an S2 tailcap/switch (with rubber button) I don’t see where you can buy that by itself (?) but I’ll ask Simon at Convoy.
