Can you use a 3.7v battery for this light?

I ordered one but I do have the grey protected Ultrafire 16340’s…

Got mine today and ran it on high with a run-of-the-mill unprotected LiCo 16340. It ran for about 9 minutes, reaching over 186 deg F before I stopped it. The temperature had nearly topped out because it was rising about 0.1 deg every 15-20s at that point. Not sure if it ran out of battery, or had reached thermal equilibrium. My guess is the former. There was a distinct burning electronics smell but otherwise no adverse affects.

Nice natural/cool white. Considerably warmer than the typical “cool” china lights.

Inside: Driver is glued to small aluminum “pill” carrier with the star glued with (assumed) heatsink epoxy to the other side. The solid cast aluminum reflector screws onto that, and that’s pretty much all the heat sink there is. I would suggest removal of the pill/reflector assembly (unscrew with needle-nose) and put Ceramique or Arctic Silver on the threads between reflector slug and pill carrier, as well as between pill and stainless steel body.

Thumbnail (Large Picture )

Low has a low refresh rate but flicker is only really noticeable when you wave the light around quickly. Strobe is not so fast as to think you’re at a rave, but fast enough to draw attention if you were using it as a safety beacon.

Nice little light.

High temps are typical for SS lights. The material cools poorly.

I’m using 3.7v protected cells. The light is much brighter, and gets hot faster though.

modding the top part by adding fins might be the only option to dispurse the heat.

$13.55 + .85 shipping. Just ordered mine because, well… I just couldn’t help it. Anyone try 18350s in one of these yet? I already have a pair of TF Flame 16340s. Just figured a longer run-time might be nice, unless the little beast ends up having dangerous heat issues.

18350 will not fit. The light is too tiny.

I was in the same boat as you. I just had to buy this little guy as well. Regarding the heat buildup, a good quality thermal paste along with thermal rings on the outside. Perhaps using two or three perfectly fit washers (nothing too big) wrapped around the top part where the pill is and set permanently might do the trick. Just a thought for now.

Gotcha. That’ll save my 18350s for my L2m and 501a. Smile Thanks!

Mine reverts back to high mode after being switched off for more than a few seconds.

I noticed the other day when trying to track something on HK Post, that they have draconian regulations concerning lithium batteries – like USPS. You must have been very unlucky, because I would imagine virtually all dealers ignore such rules. You could ask them to post it again without the battery, I suppose.

Rules here.

Maybe there’ll be a big renaissance of the merchant marine in the near future…

If a battery is shipped without proper packaging, meaning the positive and negative are not fully protected, customs can send the package back to it’s sender.

Mine came in a clam shell plastic blister pack, with the battery separate from the light, so not much chance of a short, but then again, not exactly “properly” packed in the eyes of officious customs people.

All depends who is doing the inspecting at customs. Catch a guy or gal who’s had a hard day at home and the package gets sent back.

Got mine!

Light and battery came packaged in the usual style (lots of bubble wrap, no retail box). Light was in perfect condition tho, no marks or imperfections. Just like the Sipik this was smaller than I anticipated. Short and not too wide at all. Matt’s green lipo also came in a seperate package on the same day which was nice. Verrry bright with the lipo and still impressive with the supplied trustyfire. Gonna have to pick up some of those yezl’s.. really like this light gonna get another. It’s living in my coinz pocket in my jeans, had it on my keychain but didn’t want it getting smacked up and scratched or broken so will see how I go.

Cheers!

How long do shipments usually take from China to the Uk?
I’m in Ireland. It usually takes 3-4 weeks, but a Solarforce light i got last week only took about 7 days.

well i got a keygos ke-5 which took 24 days….. came outputting about 100 lumens on high so i got in touch and there is another free of charge on the way… this trustfire says 11 to 24 days and the keygos replacement was shipped on the 19th last month so i think its definatly always going to be around 3 weeks or so to the uk.

This is where i got mine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270983599351?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=...
It came in a plastic clam shell type package with the battery and light. No paperwork or any card insert identifying the light, just a clear plastic package.
The light was perfect though with no blemishes, just needed the threads cleaning and greasing.

Cheers
Matt

I’ve ordered from DX in the past with a track record of an average of 10 shipment days to doorstep. Waiting for supplier and getting the package out the door from DX was another issue

I’ve recently ordered off of Ebay from a few suppliers and packages usually ship within a day or so. Now how long before they are received is another story. Currently waiting on 4 items to arrive.

Really looking forward to receiving this little guy. Having so much light power in such a small form factor is a great feeling.

My Mini took a month, but normally shipments are around 3 weeks. Solarforce is always quicker – certainly within 10 days.

10 days isn’t too bad then. Hopefully your mini-01 arrives soon Smile

Ill have to get saving and get another Solarforce or two Smile It’s nice not having to wait 3-4 weeks for a new light.
But i want a second Mini-01 first

I have not even received my first one yet and I feel like ordering another. I almost know I will get a kick over this little light.

I broke down and ordered one from the eBay seller. I think it was $14.40 shipped. Anyone else buy from him? If so, how long to receive?
