I see Hank’s reel is dated 25 Feb 2015? Are you guys looking for older than this? Do we know when these issues started?

Mark

Well, the shipping kills that deal for me, the last time that i checked it was like 70 USD for 10 emitters

Of course we can always accept more BLF friendly shipping options Cool

Those issues started maybe late november so prolly its reet is from the old batch
Hank`s reet picture is an old one, he never changed it since he annoyce those

If Hank claims than I will confirm that I ordered at:

13.02.2016 was terrible order money waste for me. So it can’t be old reel, and you can tell that to Hank
27.10.2015 was ok
02.09.2015 was ok

Hank needs to reply in this thread, and not only that. He got to appeal to Cree to make us good old batch of XP-G2 S4 2B emitters.

Welight also needs to confirm that he has good old XP G2 S4 2B

You guys have thread here and you can compare your reels to real old XP G2 S4 2B

There should not be mistake when ordering it cause no one likes to loose money. And new XP G2 S4 2B is total money waste.
I would toss them in a trash if I did not send them to Djozz (literary… I would really do that).

Another option is to check the reels you have in stock that you mentioned above for the old/new production type by comparing the leds (using a simple loupe or stereo-microscope) with the pictures above. (but that involves some extra effort of course).

If anyone is considering to order XP-G2’s from Fasttech (Cree XP-G2 S2-1A) as a substitute for the former king – don’t do it. They are not in stock. Ordered couple of these seven days ago and had to cancel my order today.

Well, since i am buying half a dozen emitters bins from FT i would say they are usualy non stocked Smile waiting a week for the shipment isnt an issue, the issue would be lower performance or something, like they did that to S2 2B

One shouldnt expect much from those S2 1A, yet 30-40% of them are good enough, and some are exellent

Would you consider in selling a few good ones to me? I’m pretty desperate. I’m sitting on fresh order of XP-G2 S4 2B’s from IO and don’t want to use them.

After reading all this, decided to dedome S2 2B from FT but on 20mm aluminium star. And I can confirm that the tint is perfect just like Mitko described in his thread with C8 vs Olight M2X. This one is ordered 2-3 weeks ago so I assume that if you order them with mcpcb there is a better chance you will get the old stock. Beer

Oh why don’t you want to build nice Hulk flashlight? I am sure that Hulk fans will love it Smile

Yes S2 1A is ok and it can have similar output as S4 2B (if you are lucky) but is not as good as S4 2B that are very constant performance vise.

The funny thing is that I built my Brinyte few weeks ago and used the S42B. I was thinking that how anyone seem to like this green led (dedomed). Then I ordered few more thinking I got a bad one. Then this topic came out. End of story. Now I’m sitting on a heavily modded Brinyte with no emitter. Blah.

Hope that at least Welight (Mark) from www.cutter.com.au will try to settle this issue and get us good old XP G2 S4 2B…

Hank from IO did not replied in this thread so far…

SOmething important

The last mixed S2 1A/0A/1D order that came from FT is also from the “new improved” XPG2 core version
0A still uses the same old core, old stock for sure
Those new ones barely reach 4 amps!

Pathetic

Iv’e just dedomed an XP-G2 R5 1A taken from an old flashlight that I converted to XP-L HI, to replace my “Angry Hulk” S4 LED in my UF 602C..

Much better. Slightly yellow, with a very vague hint of green (prob a 2C now), but much better than the horrible DD S4 2B that was in there previously.. I can look at the beam and not cringe now.

I also have ordered some of those S2 0D LEDs from FT.. “Waiting for stock” now apparently.. prob means they will use the “new” cores too.

Maybe I should order some 0A’s instead if they are the only ones using the old led.

Yup! New cores even with FT as Mitko said:

Those new S2 1A are worst than ever m8….i cant believe it realy, the best one so far gave 4.4 amps, and at its top in C8 it its like 125k mcds, exacly like a good DDed XPL V6 ( no ar glass no tail stping bypass)

Hornestly, Cree nuked XPG2

From this picture most guys may conclude quite opposite

New XP-G2 S4 2B right (orange) is “Angry Hulk” S4 LED when de domed. Orange as a freaking orange and yet green as an Angry Hulk when de domed… Fascinating transformation… Just like Hulk in strip or movies… Smile

Real and old king XP-G2 S4 2B is the one on the left.

I hope Djozz or anyone else can take de domed aspheric beam comparison of both.

Maybe. Smile

Larger die size it looks like though..

Wider viewing angle…

Hopefully a de-dome of a G3 will improve things…

I recieved few of the new die xp-g2 s4’s and instaled one in a B158 just to test the amps, turns out this thing pulls 4.5A with 30Q @ 4.17v. Im to lazy to dedome it now but with dome on my lux metter says 122kcd at 1m… I guess this thing wont hit more than 200kcd dedomed… huge dissapoitment.

Need to find good source for few s2 2b leds, i want to push my b158 to 290kcd again.
