[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

Please could someone who can get answer from Sofirn ask them if they are considering release of BLF version of C01S?
I mean L (M)H. I would definitively buy some of BLF’s version of C01S.
Thank you!

First of all it would be nice to know what the BLF-edition will be like. So far, I noted:

- reversed order of modes (L-H instead of H-L)

- clear anodization instead of black/blue/red

  • BLF insignias

Anything else?

Maybe a nice casket made of teakwood and some certificate sayin’ “no. 007 of 500”?
Maybe with hand-picked SST-20 4.000K 95CRI that have a duv of less than –0.0005 or maybe a bit below the BBL?
Maybe with some incorporated trit vials and a magnet?

(I assume those three extra wishes would raise the price by factor 10 at least…LOL)

^ without knowing what the production light comes with:

- no potting

  • no glued bezel

Definitely a needed change.

Not so much, anodizing for me it’s a better solution.

Hand-picked from the best Luminus trees
I don’t know if i got lucky or my eyes are playing tricks on me, but have one Lumintop EDC01 with a LED SST-20 4000k 95cri J4 flux bin, FB4 chromaticity bin(above BBL) that i swapped and i love the result. I got another order of SST-20’s same specs. except J5 flux bin coming this week(i hope) to make another swaps and then i will make more conclusions.

FYI- I was able to get a BLF group code ($6.50) on one the the few remaining Red 5600k CO1’s, but it took much longer. With the first three lights I ordered, the discount was applied within the first hour!

I ordered late Saturday night, and then “contacted seller” as per instructions. I did not get the discount applied to my order until mid-day on Monday. I completed payment, and was surprised to find an e-mail a few hours later that my CO1 “has been shipped”!

Let’ see. I bought five of the CO1s.
I never got a reply to the email asking for the BLF discount, paid full price.
Three of the lights were delivered and are just fine.
Two were lost forever somewhere inside China, according to the tracking.
After a long, long time, replacements for the missing lights were promised a week ago.
The tracking number for the replacements says nothing has been shipped yet.

Yeah, I’d buy another Sofirn light as long as it starts on low not on high.

They seem to be super busy, their processing time says 7 days.

when you say “five of the CO1s” do you mean C01 or “C01S” what was the “full price”?

1. Yes, installed on 1 so far (black 3200K). Nice when you want it and no disadvantages so far. I stick it on the refrigerator when I don’t want to turn on the kitchen lights just to get a drink late at night. Mine only holds horizontally when the magnet is near the 12 o’clock position, using the N52 set from BangGood. I might try adding 2 more magnets in the adjacent cut-outs on one of these.

2. Not yet.

3. Mostly a 3200K.

4. I love it as a hat light, very light and much more comfortable than most headlight straps.

5. Occasionally.

6. Everything is, depending on quantity. The LD50 (dosage with a 50% chance of being lethal) for water is 5 gallons.

7. Unlikely.

8. If the price is right.

Use a urethane type glue that expands as it cures. Cover with a piece of waxed paper and clamp it. I used a big ‘C’-type vise grip pliers. The expanding glue under the magnet will push it flush. I used Gorilla Glue, but watch there are a couple of types.

I assume no one played with the C01S SST-20 yet,
but is it worth more than the Astro A01 Nichia 219B currently for less than $8?

Yes, absolutely.

that depends whether you are OK with Next Mode Memory on the A01, and they are now 219c, not actully 219b anymore. There is the pencil mod option to eliminate NMM on the A01 and then it will be LMH, but it will still have PWM.

also depends how you feel about having a sublumen level and 3 modes, as on the A01
or if you are fine with just 2 modes, starting on high, with no memory (I do not know if the C01S has PWM or not)

if in doubt, buy both

.

Now back to the topic of this thread, the Sofirn C01
I hope someone starts a separate thread for the C01S, as a few people are getting confusing asking questions about lights without mentioning which version they are talking about.

Public service announcement, this is NOT the thread for the C01S, but… feel free to ignore me.

.

Received two Black Sofirn C01 5600k. It took 14 days. One has a more shiny reflector than the other. The shinier one has a more noticeable hotspot and measures 9.0 lumens. The less shiny has less hotspot and measures 8.5 lumens. Both lights tested with the same Eneloop that was at 1.29v. With an Ultimate Lithium, each light goes up by 0.3 lumens.

the light on the right has the shinier reflector

All the Sofirn and the Fenix E01 will work as Lego:

and fwiw, all the pocket clips are hard, not bendy. In fact, they break when I try to pull them off by putting a cloth under the blade. The way to remove the pocket clip without breakage is to push on the part that is clipped around the body. I used the end of a sharpie. However, the clip broke when I tried to put it on the other end. After that I succeeded in flipping the clip on the second light… I was more careful when pushing it on:

Great thanks, I didn’t even realize that they don’t use 219B anymore, has PWM

A01 description says

and that can’t be good.

I purchased my c01 with a BLF discount for $ 6.5 On the first day of the appearance of c01S on Aliexpress for $ 8.5, I placed an order without payment and asked for a BLF discount, but I was politely refused. On the second day, the c01S cost $ 11 already. It was such a discount.

Thank you for that feedback. I almost also asked for a BLF discount on a new C01S, but did not.

Now I am not really interested, as it has not been thru any type of BLF review process. The Hi-Low is not acceptable to me. Is it even potted for durability? What are the run-times?

I am very happy with my C01’s, and hope this thread will continue discussion as such.

Although I am interested in the evolution of the Co1S and comparisons, maybe a new thread should be started?

I couldn’t stand to hear the whining of starting a seperate thread about the new C01S any longer….so, here it is:

I will add supplemental information to the OP in the next hours. Post #2 is reserved for my personal thoughts about this light as soon as it arrives.

Nice job Lux-Perpetua!! . :+1: …

Looks like M4DM4X found them on Bangood

Mine only took 10 days to Canada. Surprising. A quick inspection shows stiff clips. Quite nice. Great value for $6.5.

Pleased to report the replacements for my lost two flashlights

just came in, sent promptly after they figured out the original order from last year was lost in China Post somewhere.
