Also, I presume the king of high current draw for 18650 is still Samsung Q30?

Two choices were discussed and somewhat agreed upon:
Purple Efest 14500 IMR, 650mAh
Windyfire 14500 IMR, 600mAh
Flat top, unprotected.
As for 18650 batts, if I recall correctly, 5-6 Amps continuous max was needed which many different 18650 IMR and IMR hybrid unprotected batts can do.
