i think to complain and wine baout the cost here now is a bit over the line after all that time and work this guys did and made it more (clip copper 3 tints) then the original proposal was. the first proposal was an estimation of cost based on expirience and existing products but if we jsut look at the cost of a clip screw on clip for the eagle eye or the convoy s2 then this 2 usd increase is not worth the time talking about and i think you still have the option not to buy it but i am not sure ?? i also think its quiet rude to complain about 2bucks after month this girl and guys devoted their time for the group and this project and then mgiht have to be confronted with the 2 usd question which is always ok we should talk abotu costs but in this case we can clear see where the extra costs went to a copper pcb and deep carry clip are not made out of love and air…

If one would only take a glance at the “original” specs we were shooting for in the OP when the target price was $22 - $23 USD, then read what the final specs are, the $2 increase can easily be explained. In fact, I just told someone yesterday that this light is probably worth at least 4X the price we’re paying!

I’m sorry, I really did not mean to offend anyone with a question. This will not affect my purchase or the value of this most epic light. I have been extremely exited about this group buy from the start! I really do appreciate all the hard work from everyone involved and it really shows how awesome they all are by the product they have accomplished together.

I don’t know about anybody else, but I wasn’t offended. I think it is a perfectly appropriate question you asked. I asked the very same question to Neal as well. But, with all the upgrades this light has, and the re-design/machining for the deep carry clip, I know the price is more than reasonable.

I was simply looking for clarification so I could understand better.

The original price estimate was for a cheaper product from a different manufacturer, but the quality crept upward over time. Better driver, better emitters, better MCPCB, clip, host mods, faster production, etc.

If it’s possible to get two separate packages (since the stupid $42 import limit here in Norway), can I get

1. NW tint 3D
2. CW tint 1A

If not two packages, I take the first one.

And for batteries, I have:
Panasonic NCR18650B - protected
Sanyo NCR18650GA
LG MJ1
Panasonic NCR18650PF
Samsung INR18650-30Q

All of thees should work great on this light?

I can only afford only one light…so now i’m torn between 5A and 3D.

Do any of us know the lumen differences between them YET?

Also, has anybody produced a photo of the two tints shown together to sort of give an “idea” of tint difference?

No, not yet… still waiting to confirm the exact bins.

However, I know they got some of the parts from intl-outdoor. That’s where Noctigons come from. And what intl-outdoor carries are V6 3D and U6 5A3 80+CRI. I can’t confirm that these are actually what got used, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is.

For an idea of the color, the closest picture I have so far is a 5B and 3C together. However, I just got a 3D-tint Meteor and may be able to compare 5B to 3D that way. The Meteor runs at constant current though, which makes it warmer at low output levels, and if I put it up to a high enough level to represent what the A6 will do, it’ll make all my other lights look like candles. And the Meteor has a really weird beam pattern. So, a photo is a little tricky.

Okay, I tried to get tint pictures… but again, tint is tricky (especially online).

On the left is a 5B1 emitter from my BST-wide. On the right is a 3D-tint Meteor. To my eyes, the 3D looks white and the 5B1 looks yellow. But different people see differently, so I got images with different white balances.

First, this is what auto-white-balance did on my camera:

This is what it looks like if I set the white balance to match the 5B1 emitter:

… and this is how it looks if I set the white balance to match a Nichia 219B. I think the 219B’s pink hue made everything else in the image look a little green, but it doesn’t look that way in person:

I’m not sure if that really answers anyone’s question, but it’s definitely an improvement of the 3C shown earlier. This pic has 5B1, 219B, and 3C from left to right:

The light will definitely be worth the 25$ and I will be happy paying it. Only thing that bothers me is that with the current exchange rate it will be higher than my legal tax free import limit. But I guess banggood will have a lower value on the package as always, so not afraid. As long as I don’t get selected for random inspection. With all the added effort I already expected a higher price. BTW, I have a couple of keeppower 10A protected batteries. Will these be any good for this light?

Any battery will be good for this light! Please look in the OP and you will find a link to a chart that Dale assembled of batteries tested and amps drawn. Even a plain Sanyo laptop pull does a great job and when you throw ANY type of high drain battery you see it shine - no pun intended.
