Dollar general did just that. First hour upon opening is just for us seniors. We are both staying home. A test of our marriage for sure. I'm the kinda guy that needs lots of alone time. Been lurking here and getting in trouble with Mtn. and Amazon!
The President of the Republic has declared the “Emergency State” yesterday.
Quaratine is not compulsory and some aspects about rights are being carefully dealt with.
However, with this state declared, the Government is given “powers” to apply more strict measures during the following 15 days.
Streets are emptier now, although some people circulate (including “brave and fearless” elderly people ).
Yesterday I went out for the 1st time in some days and went to a small market around the corner and it had almost all the goodies I wanted. Major supermarkets, I can’t tell. I will bet on the small local markets for now.
Some people are wearing masks, some masks and gloves, but most of them don’t.
In a specific locality where there is in-community contagion, it was applied the calamity state. The streets are being heavily controlled and entries/exits prohibited or strongly controled.
We have now 785 diagnosed cases, 3 deaths, more than 450 under surveillance and 2 or 3 recovered.
We have around 24 transmission chains (known…).
In Spain, more than 200 deaths in the last 24 hours…
_
EDIT: the Ministry Council is now reunited to decide what specific measures will be taken to fit in the Emergency State.
The USA authorizes a conventional malaria drug as a drug for coronavirus diseases. US President Donald Trump said at the White House that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the drug chloroquine for the treatment of coronavirus patients. The drug will soon be available on prescription.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has withdrawn its warning against taking the painkiller ibuprofen if an infection with the new coronavirus is suspected. WHO experts had consulted studies and doctors and concluded that there was no evidence of negative ibuprofen effects in Covid-19 patients beyond the known side effects in certain population groups.
Just came back from some grocery shopping. Probably about 100 people in the store, I saw maybe 2 people with masks. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. I have plenty of the coveted n95’s but I’m not sure when I’m supposed to use them. I also have the higher level p100’s in a full face mask. Wearing the latter with my hooded yellow suit might just trigger a poor breaking bad costume.
Like those 2 bozos who travelled state to state scooping up every bottle of hand-sanitiser they could get their germy little hands on, trying to make a fortune, and finally got locked out of Amazon for gouging. Now they “had to” donate the whole lot to various charities.
Nice to see some justice served, bet they tell their grandkids about how they “willingly” donated hand sanitizer during the Covid-19 pandemic the greedy jerks
Our local hospitals haven’t been depleted of their masks, etc. I acquired mine long before this pandemic, I wouldn’t mind handing them over once the request for supplies in our city is made. My concern is more about staying safe since my employment directly impacts the city. It hasn’t reached that point where we’ve run out of workers, but many have called in sick out of fear. We’re considered “essential” so my plan is to shelter in place and only travel to and from work. Just curious about the usage of these safety measures.
I stocked one of our bathrooms that is away from the main facility with about 50 rolls of toilet paper so that I wouldn’t have to replenish it any time soon. That was about 6 months ago, and it had remained pretty much intact until last week. Now the shelves are empty. I swear. We’ll have to install a bidet
Whomever took it was well aware that it would be hard to pinpoint because of our out-of-state delivery drivers that frequent that restroom. I like the idea of the sign, its just a sad thing to discover the desperation some people have when we haven’t even hit the extremes. At the store I noticed there was plenty of water on the shelves, so at least the world hasn’t lost all hope……yet.
