I tend to use my lights in short bursts of maybe 10 or 15 seconds, so all these hot rod lights are perfect for me.
I always saw the UT03 as the budget version of the Olight X7 and even the smaller and cheaper MT03.
The MT03 may perform well, but man is it ugly and weirdly shaped. Lol
Interested. Hope the UI is improved.

Freeme, was this design by Mateminco? Just curious.

I got the MT03, which is a compact, but very bulky triple. I now have it modded with 3 XHP70.2 P2 3B and a FET+1 driver running NarsilM. I measured in the 25K lumens range, and it gets pretty hot in 30 seconds. I was signed up for 2 of these based on the price, but I dunno now. I’m pretty happy with the MT03, but I like the compactness of the UT03.
If it got on hold because of not making 500 pieces, I think 500 pieces was a stretch considering all the options out there now. Plus the XHP70’s should really be XHP70.2’s, specially with the SMO reflectors. The MT03 has OP’s, but the beam looks great for XHP70.2’s - there’s no noticeable yellow corona, while the throwers I have, L6 and MT07, do have a very noticeable yellow corona with the same exact LED I used in the MT03.
Did you ever do a write up on this mod? I’d sure like to know more about it.

No, posted bout it in a few places. Here's the prelim stuff in What did you mod today? : https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/37376/3374
The MT03 had a few quality issues, common now. Strips threads and screw heads, seems to be there way too often. All issues I could fix though. Got in the MF01 today. It's impressive, actually true to the specs for lumens and throw with good cells (VTC6 solder tops), but of course gets hot pretty quick.

Can’t wait to get my MF01
I might get a second one if there is no issue

I thought it was the Utorch UT03 thread, sorry. I still would be in for a second one

A second UT03? They are not out yet. ???
I think Nicolicous posted to the wrong thread.

So isn’t this the thread where Freeme was trying to get a feel for how many people would be interested in buying a Utorch UT03 if and when they were to be made and sold? I originally said that I was in for 1 unit but I updated that to I would be interested in 2 if and when it was to be sold. If this isn’t that thread then I apologize, I thought it was

The person you qouted, Nicolicous, said he wanted another MF01 .
You said you wanted another one as well.
Do you see the confusion?
So you actually are saying you want another UT03 ? I’m sure Freeme can add you again.

I see what you mean now. I had interpreted what he said to mean something different, sorry about the confusion.

JasonWW:
Utorch is a seperate company. Manker is very upset with them. They are quite “disgusted” by their practices. It’s just the China way, though. Manker has even “borrowed” idea and designs from other companies. Still, Utorch seems to be making very direct copies. Even releasing them at the same time or before Manker!
Chinese Capitalism
The Chinese upset that the Chinese steal from the Chinese.
Ahh the irony…

Man I’d really love to get my hands on this light and fit a Texas Avenger driver in it with NarsilM. I really prefer xhp70 with reflectors over the xp-g3 with TIR lenses.

Fatlight:
If its about cost per lumens then a single xhp70.2 will massively save 2/3 of the most expensive component. reaching ~6-7k lumens with mt07 haikelight driver with a good bin xhp70.2. The larger reflector will increase effective light OTF efficiency to exceed 9k lumens 3xsmall reflector output and will out throw it…
Using 3 high end leds 6k lumens specification for 9k lumens is pure waste. The potential output can easily be ramp up by choosing a lower resistor value for boost mode with not much change in manufacturing cost. Boost mode allows Heatsinking cost from extended runtime to be avoided by a thermal resistor which is already pretty common.
The lowest cost will be a direct driven 16v 4 cells in series connected to 3 xhp70.2 led without a driver. That will give upwards of ~15k lumens direct driven with no efficiency loss.
My point is The cost has already been sunk so its not about cost consideration in this case but to avoid wasting good leds- Finish your meal kids. Make it 20k lumens by including a 20klumens boost mode in the light option at the same production cost and see the Q list fill up instantly. :+1:
I like the way this guy is thinking.

I’m also interest in this light too
