For me it is like the 3rd floor because I live in a second floor Condo.
Loft= A ROOM in an Aptartment/condo/house with walls but not totally enclosed. Has a balcony/overlook.
loft
/lôft,läft/
noun
1.
a room or space directly under the roof of a house or other building, which may be used for accommodations or storage.
EDIT: My loft has no door. Two flights of six steps to enter. NO PRIVACY! Was my bedroom in 1984 when I moved in here w/ my brother and his friend. Bought off of my Dad in 1991…Now Loft is ENJOYABLE MAN CAVE! :+1:
1. Did you disable your step down like me? So the turbo output[battery voltage drop ] dropped after 9.5 minutes, regardless if step down was disabled or not?
2. After 9.5 minutes was the battery able to sustain TURBO anymore if you bumped it back up or let it rest[lower output] for a few minutes then bump up?
3. What was the lumen output @ 9.5 minutes?
,Thanks
I am your average Joe,but I always have lots of questions!
2. I didn’t try bumping it back up as 9 mins is a long time on turbo, sometimes in reviews if a light steps down after a minute or so I bump it back up after 8 mins.
3. At 9.5 mins it went from around 1800 to about 700>400>100 very quickly. 3 stepdowns in 30 odd secs
I didn’t try as I took the extreme stepdown as a sign not to. Usually bumping lights back up within 8 mins of stepdown results in rapid stepdown and unmanageable heat.
Ok,thanks,a much different light[as to be expected] than my modified lights and even some stock lights that could step back up right away, although some did not have a 9 minute initial turbo run.
Different drivers also where I turn these single cell lights on and the output will gradually drop, but there is no actual step down for 20 minutes[programmed].
Just received mine. Gotta say: For 30 bucks – even 40 – this is one heck of a light.
My collection of lights includes several unmodified one-cell NW throwers acquired in the past 18 months. This is my second-place favorite in this category – second only to the Acebeam T27 that costs 4X as much. It sends to retirement my aging Astrolux C8, a year-old UTorch 02 and a 3-cell Klarus G35. Still keeping active: the T27 and Emisar D1S (for its small size) and Nightwatch NS22 (for its portability and 4000K color). My four-cell BLF Q8 multipurpose/semi-thrower will likely get less use but not be retired.
Throwing beam is tight, bright and white. There is enough spill to see your immediate surroundings but not so much as to ruin your night vision.
Double thumbs-up for the NarsilM v1.3 ramping UI with double click access to turbo. Lots of pre-programmed/programmable mode sets should you need them.
Comfortable operation. The handle-width feels right. Weight is nice. Good balance in my hand. This light will live in my car’s glove box or be carried in a backpack as it’s a bit too large for extended carry in my coat pocket. (It also fits the T27’s holster.)
Battery: Using Orbtronic 26650 4350mAh/36Amp. That’s high-drain overkill for this light - but it’s what I already had. Uses, but does not come with, a USB-C recharging cord. Chances are you already have one of these.
In the “small things matter” department, the way the lanyard attaches allows tail standing without wobbling on the cord.
Note: There is a typo on the manufacturer’s specifications on page one of this thread: Should read 190,000CD (not 19000CD). Also the alternate battery tube insert provided (at least with mine) is for size 18650 not 21700.
It should say:
Additional UI settings are available to control the button back-light. While in the battery check mode, press&hold the button. A double flash followed by a single blink is again the prompt for the first setting:
Advanced UI settings:
1. Button LED on while flashlight is OFF
1: Disable 2: Enable [default]
2. Battery level blinks on button LED only
1: Disable [default] 2: Enable
3. Button LED
1: Disable 2: Enable [default]
This should make sense if you’re already familiar with how to use the NarsilM menu.
Clever! I looked for a pair of these online (Googled: “l2/l6 squiggle things”) but didn’t find them.
But I have an idea: You know all those extra O-rings we’ve collected from buying lights? I’ll bet one fit near the top and one near the bottom of a 21700 will do the trick.
Ok figured it out two different ways to access battery check, used 3 clicks then entered into battery check, held down until two flashes followed by 1 then clicked 1 time.
that was for the ramping UI, if in the alternate UI then it is different to enter into battery check .
Just got back from the trail. I must say I am very impressed with the torch.
The ONLY questions to me are:
1.Durability and longevity
2. Is it worth modding? Personally the only thing I would change is to maybe get it de domed and leave the same SST-40 In it. For now I am going to enjoy it the way it is.
I DISABLED MY STEP DOWN
Cost- $30, a steal
Tint- NW-very nice
UI- Easy access to turbo!:
Output- ~1900L/240Kcd
Runtime- 20 solid minutes w/ any PLB-55A re wrap[Orbtronic/Vapcell/Shockli- Voltage at 3.75V[10 minutes after shut off]
Heat management- Ran the light for 20 minutes straight on Turbo. Very gradual and unnoticeable reduction in output from turn on until 20 minutes. Wild guess ~ 1900 turn on and ~1400 after 20 minutes.Light did NOT get hot, handle not even close to uncomfortable. Temp. was 54F/12C Outside.Put a fresh battery in and ran it 20 more minutes on Turbo. Same results.
I think there is an advantage to being a turbo freak and one who is on the trail EVERY night!
The SNAP CRACKLE AND POP is No longer. I noticed it being less frequent during my MAX run time test[tail stand], my first test. When I used it on the trail tonight for 40 minutes, I did NOT hear one snap crackle or pop! I even put it to my ear for a minute,Nothing. Maybe it was a glitch that worked its way out? Whatever it was, it is Gone in my light,I will keep an ear out, just in case.
The light feels good in my hand and it just fits in my very well worn M2X Holster!
In finality. I will say that this light has more output[~1800L] and the same throw as my U21vn[1400/250Kcd]. The numbers that 10 or so members posted[220Kcd to 250Kcd] certainly seem legitimate to me.
FT03=$30
U21vn =$140
No brainer! FT03 hands down!,Slightly nicer tint/cheaper/equal throw/more output
That is my REAL USE ASSESSMENT-“ON THE TRAIL REVIEW”!
Thanks FREEME/Tom E. and others involved w/ the torch.
1. That’s the main problem here, especially if you leave it on for long times at max power with very high drain cells.
2. No modding required electrically. In fact, I would be against it.
And yes, the only modding that would be worth it would be a dedome along with some thermal paste replacement to see how hot the light actually gets.
