I don’t think anyone has noticed yet, but I started greeting less newbies on 09/21/2024
Before that date, I was greeting every newbie in just about every thread on BLF.
Now for a first-time-poster or newbie to get a greeting from me, they have to either
- post in an “Introduce Yourself” thread
or - create a new thread
or - I have to think of something original to say to the newbie.
The main reason I’m doing this is that some BLF members are annoyed by me greeting so many newbies.

Run a search like European, Brazilian, American women, etc. and use those stock photos.

Don’t let a few people change what you like to do. Especially since, in this case, it is not disruptive to the community and I think new members seem to like it.

Greeting new members is a nice gesture, seems to me. But doing so by posting pictures of celebrity women to highlight their appearance is not a great way to make everyone, including women, feel welcome and respected. Some of the posts I’ve seen in response to those pictures make it seem like BLF is a private “men’s club,” or misogynist men’s club, which it obviously is not.

I was thinking about using images from horror movies (that are not offensive) in my greeting pics because I love horror movies.
The problem with that is that most people appreciate pics of attractive women, and not nearly as many people are horror movie fans.
No matter what I choose to do, someone can find a way to criticize my actions, and there’s no way to please 100% of the people 100% of the time.

It would be interesting, nonetheless, to see what the women on this board think.
Women are the attractive gender of our species. Women represent beauty, strength, a humans’ first other human they meet entering into this corporeal realm, our first love. Of course each of us men (and women) see the beauty of character in other humans. It’s a little easier for this format, however, to use pictures of the outward attributes. So, it’s perfectly human to be greeted with the visage of the finer sex.

Greet newbs with pix, and someone will piss’n’moan about that, like “what if someone’s not attracted to wimmenfolk?”, or “how do you think that makes women-users feel?”, or whatever.
Bring someone a muffin-basket to say welcome to the neighborhood, and some Debbie Downer will ask if they’re gluten-free, and lecture you how “insensitive” it might be for not getting completely inoffensive muffins that are gluten-free, dairy-free, kosher, halal, vegan, cage-free free-range dolphin-free blah blah blah.
Like, no matter what YOU might do to welcome someone (I don’t see anyone else doing anything even remotely similar), you know someone’s just gotta come along and piss all over it.
If anyone criticises you for posting those pix, ask him what HE’S doing to greet newbs.
And just keep on doing what you’re doing. Tell any naysayers to f right off.

It would also be interesting to know why it now suddenly seems to be a problem. Apparently it wasn’t a problem all those years before.
Yeah. I don’t know if someone get closes to raccoon in terms of greeting new members.
I fail to see the issue with those greetings. If Raccoon greeted people with pictures of attractive men, the only thing I as a man would think “hey, how nice of him to greet me”. The same I think when I see his pics of attractive women.
It wouldn’t make me feel objectified, and it wouldn’t give me the opinion that he hates men because he only posts men either.
I get that this is a sensitive topic for some people, but I fail to see what kind of issue Raccoons greetings pose, and how it would make the forum better if he stopped, or posted someone else.
It’s a nice gesture, and as long as he doesn’t post R18 or suggestive stuff, I think it should be his choice to pick the pictures.

Who knows… Could be a full moon. Could be someone just got a bug up his ass about something for whatever reason and wants to take it out on the world. Could just be Tuesday. Never know why people do whatever it is they do.
