I find that either my eyes have adapted, or the lavenderish rosiness of the 4200k has burned off somehow… I’m inclined to believe the latter, because I still see the semi-rosiness of the dedomed 519A, and while walking around in a particular parking lot, the light no longer looks purplish pinkish in comparison, and the visually the DUV now appears rather neutral.
Thanks for all the beamshots, really helpful. I’m not seeing anything I want from the selection available, I’m put off by the low candela on the high CRI rosy NTG, or the goldilocks 5000K SFT but with its low CRI but higher candela. I’m at the point where I wish a 6000K NTG was available. It could be a great addition to the line-up if the slight rosy tint cancelled out any top end blue.
If pushed, I’d go NTG50 5000K, it’s possible candela doesn’t matter for this immediate area light, the 2700K is a gorgeous fully warm glow indoors.
I wonder if there are any hidden menu emitters for this light?
I’m out of touch on versions and colours, is this still technically V2.5 with the tail switch and spinning clip problem solved? More colours coming?
Im calling this batch of Silver V3 because the Head is not glued, and the switch has been upgraded to double pressure.
afaik, since I have not received my new Silver KR1AA yet, it will still come with the double O ring on the body, that some of us called V2.5, that prevents the clip from spinning freely.
Since the tailcap does not need to be opened to change batteries, the clip wont spin during battery changes through the head.
afaik, present inventory of colored models do not yet have the unglued head, but I believe they are now shipping with the double pressure switches… so.. we might call them V2.75
I have no info on any plans for other colors than the ones currently on the menu.
You might be able to get a secret menu XHP50.3 Hi 5000K, suggest you email Hank with your questions about that, and any other details..
I have, if there’s any news I’ll share here. As I’m very fond of the matte black finish, I’ve asked about the possibility of olive green. AFAIK, black and milspec green ano are the only colours that can be hard anodised giving that chalky finish. I think the MAO can get a finish like that but it’s a different process.
I do like it, tint is lovely with no green. Mine’s the 4000K R70 version which seems to be generally acknowledged to have a better tint than the high CRI one.
I know some people claim that anything less than 90 CRI makes their eyes bleed, but I’d rather have lower CRI and nice tint.
I can’t really fault Hank for having a smaller set of LEDs than usual for this light. The boost voltage limits options in a single-LED light. But more importantly, with NTG making the nicest-looking beam in my whole collection, while also achieving 150 lm/W, I wouldn’t really want anything else anyway.
