Thanks to a very kind member here who got DX to ship one to me, I finally got a host to build my new love!
She's a beautiful girl, hot and ready! Complete with attitude, very capable, and will burn your retinas out if you don't treat her nice!
Oh...... new relationships are exciting! <g>
She runs on 3 8X7135 drivers with one piggybacked on each board to allow 3A per emitter. Two of the reflectors are McGizmo 18mm, one is a cut down Ledil MC-E-S Boom. Cool white emitters from my defunct fryray. Stole the lens from my TK-35 'till I find another-fabbed a gasket to hold it in. (rests on reflectors)
Did the guts up the same way as our German friend. Used plumbing caps for heatsinks, filled them with molten solder so there wouldn't be any air space. It's a hot glue/Arctic Alumina hack job but she works fine and heatsinking is fine.
On one 26650 she'll do 5 amps. Yes, it'll fit but I used the original driver board stripped of components for battery +. And-Solarforce L2P clicky guts screw right into the tailcap! Had to make the spring very short, added a copper washer and braid for resistance fix, and used vinyl hose scrap to adapt the battery.
A 32650 will go in if the outside wrapper is stripped, but due to the poorer anodizing inside the tube, the light comes on so no go. It did 6.5A on the 32650 though.
Bezel is the original, filed/sanded/polished.
Named her Little Nellie in honor of the gyrocopter from "You Only Live Twice." Seemed a natural.
Of course now I must do a neutral!
