New XP-L emitter is domeless
Wow… double the intensity of the “old” XPL … nice, too bad these LEDs didn’t made it to the new Meteor 43 light
Oh Yeah! Finally.
Might be the end of tint lottery for dedomed emitters.
Are these really any different than the current generation after a dedome?
Tint, Tint my friend.
This is literally today's news, April 29, 2015
Probably not, but it’ll be nice know the bin values. With a dedome, tint shift is often inconsistent and the impact on lumens is unknown. This removes all of the darkness and unknowns of doing a dedome. It’ll also save the grief of ruining emitters with a failed dedome.
What will Vinh do now?
In what way? I didn’t look at the bin and tint options.

Factory DOMELESS ==> Me Want
Hopefully they make a “domeless” XP-G2 too
Edit: Is it weird that my heart literally fluttered a bit? LOL
Is it just me or does that look like it has a “plate glass window in front of it” maybe the “dome” is gone but it looks like a “lens” is still there.
To me it looks like a very thin layer of their normal gel dome material
Looks like a cut silicone dome, of course it only looks cut because we know the actual domed XP-L.
If that photo is real then the die will have some flat silicone protection (we can't really say flat dome).
The same thing he has been doing! This may save him time IF he chooses this emitter.
Now wait, your talking about Vinh Nguyen, right?!!.or the other Vinz?
I think this is the SAME emitter Olight put on the UPGRADED M2X about a month ago, switching from a domeless XML2.
XLamp XP-L High Intensity
Industry’s First High-Intensity LED
The XLamp® XP-L High-Intensity LED is the first of Cree’s new class of High-Intensity LEDs optimized to deliver maximum candela through secondary optics. The XP-L High-Intensity LED is the first single-die LED to deliver over 100,000 cd in a 4-degree beam with a 50-mm diameter optic at 10 W. Built on Cree’s breakthrough SC5 Technology™ Platform, the XP-L High-Intensity LED delivers more than double the candelas of the industry’s previous highest-performing single-die XP-L LED through the same optic. The new high-intensity LED offers a drop-in ready upgrade for XP-based luminaire designs, enabling manufacturers to achieve higher luminous intensity with minimal redesign to accelerate time to market.

Wonderful ! Hope they will do the same with XB-H LED.
It looks like there is a just a thin layer of silicone, likely to protect the phosphor and bond wires. This might mean surface brightness will be some percentage lower than a typical dedome, but reliability and tint should be better.
