Pinkpanda3310's 12th annual challenge entry - modified

Not sure if I’ll have enough time to finish this but there’s still a month to go so fingers crossed.

I’ll enter the modified category with this convoy m21a.

The plan is to go from single reflector to 7x optic.

EDIT

Okay I’ve changed my plans. The plan now is convoy s2+ special lighted tail. It’s not too big of a modification but i do need to either find or modify a driver to suit aux tail lights.

Nice idea! (I’m doing the same thing with a C8+) I hope it goes well!

Doh! I should’ve paid more attention, i didn’t realise i was doing something so similar to another contestant. I might change my plans.

Curious, what’s the output of the buck driver you’re planning on using?

Using 7x 519As and an 8A buck driver and based on my rough calculations I am hoping for somewhere close to 2500-2800 Lumens. I also have a linear driver that I want to try swapping the resistor for to get a few more amps (max of 10-12)

Parts for the new plan

Can i add a resistor to this driver for aux…?

In theory I think yes, in practise I know I could have trouble because of the small parts size. I hope you can make it work.

Yes, just add a bleeder resistor from the + spring to the center pin on one of the empty 7135(They connect to -).
I typically use a 470ish Ohm resistor.

Edit: you mean illuminated tailcap right?

Yes, Illuminated tail cap. Thanks :+1:

Okay i really haven’t put the time into this that it needed. I do have a functioning light but not a finished light per se.

In the pic a few posts ago i showed the convoy light next to one of these

It fits snuggly in the tail. With a bit of work i sanded it down and fitted a switch to it. Result is an illuminated tail with chasing leds. There are a few different modes that can be accessed by waving a magnet at the tail.

Room for improvement

  • better finish / presentation of the tail
  • incorporate the magnet into a pocket clip somehow

I don’t think i’ll get it done before the deadline so i’m just showing you what i have.
