- Solid host with a good amount of mass. (good for modding?)
- Easy to take apart
- Grippy knurling
Cons:
- Very difficult to switch from flood to throw
- No tailstanding despite having a recessed switch
- No sleeve included for 2x 18650 use
Photos:
I tried to make this review somewhat phone/mobile friendly - simply click the link below each photo for a high resolution version.
The light will not tailstand despite having a recessed switch. (Weight of the light will push the switch in, turning the light off)
To switch from flood to throw - twist the head. Doing so required quite a bit of muscle and was very difficult on my review sample.
Head fully zoomed out.
The pill has REVERSE threads on it. (Left tightens the pill into the body, right loosens)
Light output (Measured in my integration sphere):
Uniquefire | UF-1405 XM-L Flood | 438 | High @ turn on |
Panasonic NCRB | 421 | High @ 30 sec
219 | Medium | ||
108 | Low | ||
Uniquefire | UF-1405 XM-L Throw | 230 | High @ turn on |
Panasonic NCRB | 215 | High @ 30 sec
Throw - 100,000 Lux | 115 | Medium
56 | Low |
This is way below the manufacturer claim of 1200 lumen - but this output is typical output for an aspheric light. For reference the Deft-x at 931,000 lux has 448 OTF lumen @ 30 sec
Summary
This is a good budget light with a few minor short comings. It would make a great host for modding as there is a quite a bit of mass around the neck of the light.
