Got my red C01S yesterday and tried it with a Vapcell 10440, and its a pocket cannon at high, though it does get warm quite quickly. It barely gets warm on low. Anyone else using their C01S with a 10440? I plan to use it mostly on low.
Be careful with that! If you search this thread for 10440, you’ll find that some members have had luck with a 10440 while some haven’t been so fortunate:
I find tint of sst20 4000k a bit green and inconsistent if used indoor on night, also blue peak seem high.
If will be shave does Duv and CCT decrease for get a good warm tint?
SST-20 has bond wires on the surface. You either have to do a really shallow slice or risk messing up the LED. IMO I would just replace the LED if you that’s what you prefer.
Yes I meant dedome Led,will search correct procedure.
If too much hard,Led will be replace with a warmer sst20, but will cost like almost the entire light.
I have used mine with 10440 several times and it has worked well, but I have only used it that way a few times and for a short time, so I cannot guarantee that continued use will not harm the flashlight. There are several forum members who have damaged the driver by the use of lithium-ion …
I think that similar to Convoy flashlights that use SST20 4000k, the Sofirn lights that use SST20 4000k might have different bins, resulting in sort of a tint lottery… some may look OK, a few may have a more greenish hint… (I could be wrong here, but they don’t specify tint bins, do they?)
I have a S2+ SST-20, a bunch of C01S and a ten-pack of SST-20s off AE which have been swapped into various lights. Pretty consistent tint across all of them. Maybe I’m lucky…
I ordered some of the red and blue ones last month. Being user friendly and convenient to carry, I’ve found them to be an excellent gift. The trouble is, I was running out!
The ones I have are good. The tint doesn’t seem green to me. Was that an issue for some people?
Maybe I’m just picky, but my red C01S is really green with a AA. Only with a 10440 on high does the green go away. My Convoy S2+ is the same, green as heck unless on high. My D4V2 on the other hand is great, no perceptible green even on low. Hank confirmed that it came with FA3 tint, so that’s probably why. I suspect that both my C01S and S2+ have FB4 tint.
Yes. Don’t know why it looks so bad, maybe LED, maybe optics. I ordered some SST-20 from int’l outdoor and implanted them into a Fitorch P25. Tint is different like day and night. Replaced them all except one in my c01s’ by 219C, SST-20@2700K and 219B.
Thanks, I got my D4V2 in March so it’s probably the same batch. Time to place an order with Intl-Outdoor, and get some other stuff like flux and heating plate so I can start swapping emitters. At least it’s cheaper than buying more flashlights.
Sari33, I just noticed the link in #679 is broken. Sorry, don’t know how to fix it. Select the whole line and copy&paste it.
Jon, the Luminus is slighly more on the red side in direct comparison. But both are very nice, though. Have you noticed a different tint after shaving the Samsung?
