I have a new flashlight in my custom lights collection. “The Cypreus” means “made of copper” So this light has it’s guts aswell as the body made up of pure oxygen-free copper. The EDC Cypreus Originally is a small laser host that houses a 12mm laser module and a driver with a small heatsink, I simply loved how it turned out and decided to make another one that could house the guts of a basic 1000lm flashlight, better yet in a edc form factor.
It has been an amazing weekend so far, Here’s my new edc light.
This little beast is a POWERHOUSE, it is running on a single 18350 IMR and the copper body takes care of the heat I can run it on MAX for as long as I want, It does get hot to the touch… Hope you guys like it, It is my latest gem for sure.
I love copper and brass - to many flashlights are black, grey or only silver. Both combined looks awesome and very elegant. Now you have a great EDC. Thank you for showing this.
As far as I know, the only stars that feature direct copper to the LED heatsink pad with no dielectric layer are:
Sinkpads
Noctigons
The house brand from Illumination Supply.
I don’t recognize that star, so it might have a dielectric layer under the center pad. You should get an increase in performance switching to a direct copper star.
Unfortunately I didnot have sinkpads at hand, I just opened up a packet from fasttech a few weeks ago and found a bunch of copper base plated with CREE HJD written on them so i believe they’re for the XM-L2’s. I am sure using a sinkpad will make it upto par, and improve the performace.
The copper takes care of the heat right away and you feel it getting warmer by the second. Although on medium and low you can barely feel it getting more than body temperature that is where I run the light mostly.
Thanks man, It is 6.8Oz incl. batteries.
I have actually, I’ll be able to make more of them , Sure.
The reflector is 20.4mm Diameter and 20.0mm Length. Fasttech Sku 1208702
Internal Dimensions are 38mm x 20.5mm. Overall dimensions of head part are 40mm x 24.8mm.
Ooooh!!! Sounds like it will fit a 20mm triple-XPG2 star and triple-TIR optic!!!
So if you make this as a host… how much will you charge?
Actually… you should make a version specifically for a triple-XPG2. You could use the same design, but the head could be shorter since a triple-TIR optic is shorter than a single-emitter reflector.
I’m going to have to sell a kidney. I think one of these with the Triple xpg driven by a FET would be cool and then another one with triple XMLs and then… and then…
