Its a good warning, I can now stock up on a few backup SC31Pros before you change and IMO really potentially ruin them.

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind a TIR over a reflector, these days I see reflectors as unneeded length, and unneeded technology; Nothing a TIR can’t do that a reflector can, as far as I can tell. Maybe a sub model sold with a wide flood optic/led like the flood channel on the HS20, that would be sweet. Maybe a warmer tint around 4K as an option.

But otherwise I like the lights just as they are.

I guess my only real request is to not replace the 31 Pro, but introduce a new model based on it.

Well, one big request I guess, not to b a broken record but I am going to say it again; For ANYTHING you develop, please, Please learn to make a tail cap with a magnet AND a side mounted lanyard ring loop(NOT one that one end of hole is on the end of the cap, making the magnet un usable if a hard ring is in the hole).

Yes, I know I’m in a very small minority(as in; probably just me).

Ah. Another time where I have posted after its irrelavant, because someone put the update in the first post, not where it should be following other topic posts… Please put updates where they belong in chronlogical order, at the end of a thread, not at the beggining! YOu manufacturers have a terrible tendancy to do this!

Once you’ve visited a topic, There is no reason to read the first posts again, forums are linear. Or at the very least if you add to the first post, mention it at the end too, so we know there is an added update at the top!

Beam looks like its terrible, far too tight, no spill to be useful as a general use EDC light… thats a beam for a search light. Otherwise it looks like a passable little light.

IF you want to include someone who is not pre-sold on liking this light, but will be honest in evaluation, could go ahead and include me for the giveaway… I AM currious, and will be open minded! Just not really expecting to like it.

Hard to beat the SC 31 but the smaller the better?

FC13 is the one I had avoided, styling, size and pointless high CRI with un usable power bank feature… But thats neither here nor there.

FC11 I never got because it was basically identical to SC31, other than pointless to me high CRI… I wouldn’t gain anything.

Will edit other post, since I mixed up lights, it makes my comment non applicable.

I could tell you why I don’t like the features people are asking for here… Mainly, a buck driver. In my experiance that means a regulated output driver, and no step down of light output with voltage drop. Which I Do Not like. The only regulated drive light I have could have killed me once because it went from full output to OFF instantly, and left me walking home in the dark one winter. Thank God it was a full moon, and only around 0 deg F, and only a half mile. Slighly different scenario could have killed me. Not good I didn’t have a backup, but I’ll not risk such scenario again.

If a buck driver here doesn’t mean that kind of constant output regulation, then nevermind… but to me that seems to be what the term always means.

I have a buck driven Eagtac that drops output when voltage starts getting low and flashes the led every 30 seconds when the voltage hits 2.9.

FC11C seems to have some 30 lm, ~1.5 h reserve mode in Turbo, High, and Med, which should alleviate your safety concerns.

And AFAIU, buck drivers advantage is not only the regulated output but also significantly higher efficiency - you will get more ‘total light’ out of a battery.

Still looks like solid hard steps to useless light levels, but yes it would’t be completely off, thats good for safety.

time will tell what we get, I might end up with one of the new ones then.

Unfortunate that your light didn’t have the pretty standard low-voltage step-downs, but as others have mentioned an unregulated light would generally be less efficient in terms of lumens/watt and thus would have went completely off even earlier than your light if you wanted similar light levels.

One reason I’m not crazy about regulated output is that the steps on the high end pretty much disappear as the cell fades. Eg, if you’re on high and the output drops below what it can sustain, it drops to medium pretty suddenly. Or alternately, it’ll try to keep high as much and as long as possible, gradually dimming until it essentially becomes medium.

At least with ratiometric output, both medium and high (and all other modes) will dim as the cell peters out, but the steps between them will remain distinct.

I was playing with my… was it the M200?.. and cliicked up from lowest to probably medium, then the next click to high got me almost nothing more. I had to go back down low and then back up again, same thing. Figured it out, but still ain’t used to it. And I really like that light.

Sure, on lower levels, each step (that’s sustainable) is predictable, but on the high end, they just keep “folding” down to lower and lower levels. That can be unnerving.

And one of my earliest AA LED lights was a nice… what was Target’s house-brand?, River Rock?.. and that also drops dead from full (and only) brightness to off. Rock-solid output from a fresh alkaleak right up to the second that it drops dead.

This problem can be solved by a boost driver and a 6v LED. The high level will keep being high until the battery can’t sustain the needed current for boosting to the required voltage.

I far prefer regulated efficient output compared to a light that gets dimmer as soon as you turn it on. A down ward slope of run time is basically the light literally gas lighting it’s user, lol. I used some of those in real world situation and it’s terrible. By the time the battery is half consumed, high is dimmer than medium. I was thinking that my eyesight had problems until I turned on another light.

I wouldn’t rule out thermal throttling. I got a number of lights that even I notice get dimmer the longer they’re kept on.

But I’m all about efficiency, so the more the better.

Andruil style ramping basically side stepped the problem. You dial in the exact amount of light you need. When it gets dimmer, ramp up a bit more. Yes the drivers can be pretty inefficient but the UI can partially make up for it. It also reminds me an old saying which goes: it’s better to inefficient use a little bit of light than efficiently waste a lot of light. Said by somebody somewhere on the internet and I think there is some truth to it.

More color/design accents- make them sexy , comfortable to use and friendlier. All your lights except sc13 are a bit grim.

But I’d have known long before it went off and left me stranded, that it was low, and I could have charged it or changed the battery. Its not about longevity, its about knowing ahead of time thatat whatever the run time is, is dwindling, during use. Less critical with Anduril and voltage check present, but still an annoyance.
