Oops. My apologies. Got questions/answers mixed up. Unfortunately, I agree with your last sentence. The only possibility seems to be if some person just happens to be selling something on Ebay that happens to be CONUS.
At the same time, I keep wondering if there’s some more commonly available in the U.S. light that hasn’t been discovered to fit the Defiant’s tube :(….
I’ve never tried it, but I have see pictures of “torched” black ano lights. You can get various shades of a kind of brown color. I guess the questions are:
Does the Defiant have a plastic bezel?
If aluminum bezel, can the head be torched to a color that would match the A8 color?
If not, can the A8 clone be torched to match afterwords?
The bezel is metal, but it’s not magnetic, so I’m guessing that it’s aluminum. I forget where, but I seem to recall that someone said that you could use some household chemical to de-anodize (I don’t know if the bezel is anodized, or just painted).?
Edit: What about just sanding the bezel? Would that work?
Edit: The one I saw about torching was copper if I recall.
I think I found an example of torching on a currently active BLF’ers light. If you look at post #26 of the following post, it looks like Dale’s 3T6 is torched in the top half of the light:
It changes the color from black to a copper like color.
My light cost me $55.00 to get it to Aus. Driver $14.00, lens $10.00, bare XM-L2 led $7.00, copper star $4.00, switch $1.00, Boot $1.00, o’rings $1.00 and material $30.00. $123.00 for a Defiant 3C + labour. Lets just round it off too $1123.00.
Who wants to mod lights? To top it off the old fool has another on its way that will cost more to mod.
If anyone would like the battery tube for this light in Australia bored out to suit 26650 batteries they can have it for the price off the postage which is about $6-7.00.
