US - Defiant "Super Thrower" 3C (New Model - +/-64mm Head XM-L) - Get To Home Depot Now!

Actualy I bought the light initialy just to have a quality light that takes standard batteries and not expecting much at all but wow in stock form it beat’s my STL-V6’s in both throw and beam intensity the only light I own out of my collection that beat’s it is the Maxtoch SN6X-2X and not by a lot ebay has a few for sale at times for good prices but there is also a lot of price gouging to because some folk’s stocked up when they blew these light’s out the door at home depot for as low as $2! in my area and that’s not a mistake $2….lol makes me sick I paid around $20 for the first few I have then bought a few for $15 right before they were dropped to $2 great light stock but yes plenty of mod potential just have felt no need to.

My latest mod with an older STL-V2 (original single emitter) I put in an 5 amp driver with and XM-L2 and it just matches this light’s output :_(

They are very nice for the price. Really beefy. I got mine for $8 iirc; none of the stock in my local stores lasted to the $2 point, lol. Left mine stock as well.

i haven’t seen the DST in the local HS stores since last falll when they went on clearance, and i managed to snag 7 of them for less than 8 bucks each. ( 4 of which are currently being used to build the 4-head thrower project.)

Good for you bro that is amazing to get this kind of light for that price I worry because I keep hearing talk that home depot will soon cut out selling flashlight’s like these because they did not sell as well as planned.

The current model at home depot—> http://www.homedepot.com/p/Defiant-ArmorMax-3D-Tactical-Flashlight-809-3731-D/203657321?quantity=1 is $30 at all the location’s around me and they have XM-L2 LED’s in them was about to order a few until I saw that some location’s in different states have XML-T6’s and XML-U2’s instead so I am going to wait it out until I get the chance to travel back to the home depot I saw the ones with XM-L2’s in them as I live far away from any home depot…would like a few simply because of the lower mode to conserve battery but also prefer the latest LED in them to.

Wow all of you getting these light’s in the single digit pricing amazes me…lol,I wish these light’s did better because they have close to Maglite build quality but with up to date spec’s at cheap prices and I mean all these light’s…the super thrower the 650 lumen model and current model… etc…. all amazing light’s for the price especialy.

  • I apologise if I am derailing this topic and will be quiet if that is wanted.

Yes, the SRK lenses fit pretty well. D Maglites are ~52mm. (52.6?)

Many stores kept them hidden well enough that determined buyers with a copy of the web page needed hours with the help of several sales assistants to snag one.

It's as though the plan was to not sell them. I know of one store near me that never did put the DST's on the sales floor, kept them in the overhead shelves for the entire run. :Sp

I can’t find these anymore in my Home Depots. Only the XP-G or E versions running 3 Cs.

Those top shelves are treasure troves of forbidden fruit. :D

Found an entire unopened box of Black Friday deal spotlights hidden up there.. In February!

I should have had someone distract the employees while I hopped on the ladder and looked for more gems up there.

It is unfortunate they didn't sell better though, that's for sure. It would have been nice to be able to see what they could expand to considering they were able to retail a light in the $20-30 that severely wrecked the competition in performance.

Hmmm….maybe this explain’s why certain ebay seller’s price gouging on ebay alway’s have plenty of stock.

Is the XP-G 3d the triple LED light at your stores? for som reason can’t find that one around this area….lol

Gonna try to swing by the home depot later today a purchase the 3d armormax version and see if any of them still have the XM-L2 in it and let you all know…if it does and fund’s/girlfrienfd’s/wives allow I recommend picking up one or more so they can keep selling them….I see the parent company “Brinkmann” has identical looking light’s/spec’s costing $20-$30 more online….hope this isn’t the route they are taking :~

Just got back from the Home Depot in Port Orange, Florida and can confirm the defiant 3D ArmorMax —> http://www.homedepot.com/p/Defiant-ArmorMax-3D-Tactical-Flashlight-809-3731-D/203657321?quantity=1 has XM-L2 Led’s in them word must be getting out because this store had a huge display of them about a month ago and there is no display of this flashlight anymore in this store and the shelf had 10 in stock and I grabbed 2 of them.

They come with rubber front and end cap’s and three D batteries that are already put inside the flashlight beam wise it is very similar to the 650 lumen model but these seem to have a more whitish tint in the beam but quite noticable less output than the older model but still very bright the reflector look’s to be the same as the older model.

I print and copied coupon code ” MEMHD ” and got $5 off the purchase the flashlight’s were $29.99 each the 3c version had a realy small LED that did not look like an XML.

I totally recommend this light it’s built better than the old model has good output and premium LED in it plus lifetime warranty but you must save your receipt for this.Hope this helps.

Brinkmann makes them branded Defiant for Home Depot, the same way other national brands make appliances and tools branded Kenmore and Craftsman for Sears.

This is what I was thinking and worried of when I mentioned it because Brinkmann has a “Qbeam series” that look’s identical to Defiant’s sold at home depot but with a higher price but more money I just worry they will stop selling these good deal flashlight’s as I keep reading talk they might do this and mark up prices as they already have a bit on the home brand—> Amazon.com

I saw about 7 DSt's at my local Home depot in march but they were still priced at 16.96.

A friend and I both bought a few and I waited for months for them to drop in price and one day they just disappeared ...

They were all up on the top shelf away from all the other lights .

If you ask me ..it's employees hiding them . People working there have smart phones and know what stuff sells for on ebay.

I can’t seem to figure out how to do this. Can you explain a little more how this works?

Basicly you go to the site choose which product you want put it in your basket then go to checkout…now you have 1 of 3 choices, you can either enter MEMHD in coupon area and then it should deduct $5 from your order then you can order the product to have it shipped to you or you can do the same thing but have the store of your choice get your product’s together for you and you choose a date to go and pick them up (after you pay and submit coupon code) or you can do what I did and go through the whole checkout process and enter coupon code in for the $5 discount then print the page that show’s the product’s and prices and coupon codes without following through with the order and go down to the store right away grab the light’s and checkout showing the cashier the printout page to get the discount but you must hurry because the coupon code expires in 1-2 day’s.

I did it this way because I knew the light’s at this particular store had Cree XM-L2’s while other’s had XML-U2’s so I did not want to risk getting my product from there warehouse, hope this help’s.

I think so to because all these light’s rock and once they find out they price gouge them on ebay like you say.

Now that people have had their DST’s for a long time, have we found a 2*26650 tube that fits without cross-treading?
