I looked to see if I had his address since he had sent me a light . I was surprised that I couldn’t find his address since I consider him a true friend here on the forum.

Dchomak has always been a king of finding those killer deals from Home Depot. He has been MIA for a little bit. Hopefully all is well.

They’ve got a 2-pack of Husky 500 lumen flashlights for $15. Could be worse

They were $10 during last Xmas. Sad

Decent flashlights for the price. Throwy beam pattern. A bit of green tint on the outside of the hot spot. Good light output, but they eat through batteries really fast. You’re looking at 20-25 min run time on max, using high capacity NiMH cells. Wish there was an easy way to convert them to Li-Ion.

Picked up a Dewalt Headlamp yesterday for $17.98 CAD at Homedepot Canada. Looks like neutral white compared to my dollorama headlamp but when compared to one of my 5000k XPL-hi nw flashlights the dewalt is an ugly green.

I know. I wish we knew what happened.

Real life may have shown up and changed the focus of Miss dchomak.

Give them some time and see when they last looked.

****************EDIT***************
Looks like they have not posted in the last 10 months. Someone might try and contact them and see if everything is ok.

This forum has a lot of coming and going. I remember when a few other members have had life move them in different directions.

"Miss" was used as a verb.  dchomak is a Mr.  I believe at least 2 BLF member's have tried to reach out to him.  They have not reported back having any success.  They both would have if they did find out anything.  I've lost so many family members this past year+ that I have not had the heart to try to reach out myself.  I guess it's time I give it a shoot.  I think I might have his address with some copper sheet I purchased from him.

Now take into consideration, I have not spoken to him in a few months so I can not guarantee he is alive and well, I just know he was moving and that takes time. I will email him to let him know he is missed lol.

I was in Home Depot today looking for a replacement ceiling fixture for a small laundry room.

Luckily, I ran across this two-pack of LED ceiling fixtures in the clearance section for just $15!

They’re still listed for $59.97 on Home Depot’s site. My store had several packs of the brushed nickel and oil-rubbed bronze on and end-cap in the Electrical / Lighting section of the store.

I’m very impressed with the light so far. It’s not particularly attractive, but just fine for a laundry room! It has decent output and a nice 3000K color temperature. I’m not sure what I’ll do with the second one. Big Smile

Here are pics of the front and rear of the brushed nickel box. Click to embiggen.

nice pickup goshdogit. Guessing your laundry room is bigger than mine, I have 1 900 lumen fixture for an area maybe 6’×6’, and its borderline too much. 1340 would be definitely too much in my space. Seems like it could be bright enough for a 10’ × 10’ bedroom even?

Some Googling indicates that a 100-watt incandescent puts out roughly 1500 lumens, in case that helps you determine how that would feel in a 10×10’ room.

The amount of light is great for this application. This laundry room is between the main hall and the attached garage. It’s the primary entrance for the homeowners, so a bright room is a good transition for eyes adjusting from outside to inside light levels.

Surprisingly, these fixtures are dimmable, and claim to work with ‘most household dimmers.’ I haven’t tested that claim though.

Speaking of dimmers, I’ve had mixed results using traditional incandescent dimmers with LED bulbs and fixtures. They either won’t work at all, or the dimmable range is non-linear and nearly all of the adjustment is at one end of the dimmer’s travel.

I was lucky to find twin-packs of ‘digital’ Feit dimmers for a deal at Costco last year. They provide a true 0-100% dimmable range with several different dimmable LED bulbs I’ve tried. They’re even programmable to adjust the bottom of the range if you won’t use much of the lower outputs. I think mine are this model, which seem to get less-than-stellar reviews on Amazon. I haven’t had any trouble with mine.

Thanks for the tips on lumens vs area, good to know.

Sell it for $30 on ebay. You’ll end up with a free light and maybe a couple extra dollars.

I'll give you a penny for it ....

a 60 WATT light bulb is 800 lumens.

Thanks for the tip on dimmers  My new high cri led lightbulbs are dimmable but act really wonky on my old dimmer switches

I bought those exact lights to use in my finished basement where I needed an almost flush mount due to low ceiling. I am very happy with them and their performance. I added a remote relay between mains power and light fixture and have a switch that I can mount any where in the room. Best of luck and a great bargain if you ask me.
