Unfortunately the sm653 9080 E21A isn’t there yet.
I bet you’re going to make another cuddling mode flashlight. The output of sm203 9050 E21A only topped at D180. And Nichia couldn’t guarantee the availability of D180. These reel is a mix of D160 and D180 according the the PO. Hopefully you don’t get too much variations. I hope the variation would be gradual between LEDS next to each other.
Those E21 Nichias, I understand that dedicated boards are on their way, but I wonder if these LEDs have been used with existing boards? I am really interested in domeless high cri LEDs, the 083b being my grail at the moment.

Yes they have. Scroll up and then click this link to see almost anything you need to know about the development of the boards http://budgetlightforum.com/node/51021

Thanks for the reference! I had read that thread thoroughly. Just was wondering if those LEDs had been used in flashlights before. Maybe with the boards used for 119s?

Ah I see. I assumed you asked about existing VirEnce boards. AFAIK, I’ve never seen any flashlights made using this LED as OEM. The only flashlight I knew was Jensen567’s P60. Maybe he’ll be kind enough to share his builds to us here.
And as for the 119 boards, Djozz tested these LEDs with his 119 board. But the gap is too wide for it to work properly. You need 0,2mm gap with E21A/E17A. http://budgetlightforum.com/node/45089
Even mine is not really a flashlight, just a beam tester. I need a 17mm boost driver to actually run it in a flashlight since I setup the emitters in 2S2P configuration. But this does at least show the quadtrix configuration gives a very nice beam without any donut hole, even just using a simple P60 OP reflector. I haven’t tried SMO but I suspect there would be a donut. I will be building lots more with E21A once I get some more components.

Does not look like a multiple core LED at all. Thanks for sharing, good to know!
I see the custom Armyteks listed on the site now. Does this mean the boards are coming in soon?
The boards will be shipped by this week or next week according to the latest factory update. The Armyteks still needs fine tuning especially for correct optics selection and reliable fastening method.
Thanks Clemence! And I noticed that the 219B sw45k has no voltage rank too.

Hi clemence,
Would it be possible for you to re-upload the pics in the OP? Almost every picture in the OP is no longer available. Thanks.
Same for other threads with your pictures.

The quadtrix under spherical lens. It’s just a bad aspheric lens from a cheap zoomie pull, please don’t complain about the beam.

E21 has the same footprint as Cree XQ series.
If you can find a XQ board, you can put a E21 on it without any positioning problems.

Does the VR16SP4 work with the new cree LED’s? I might need to grab one of those so I can test the new Cree LED’s.
