I think I have components and tentative plans for four lights and a laser… I just haven’t had any time to work on them.

If I do anything in time for OL10, it will have to be a one-day project and post. There’s a keychain type light I’ve been meaning to build that I might be able to do quick enough.

A New Challenger Approaches… Well, the hour grows late my friends, very late indeed… The contest closes in scarce few days and I’m sidling up to the entry gate with an empty handed swagger… but wait… what’s that in my pocket? No it’s not a flashlight. At least, not yet… Just bits and pieces of what may become a nightlight. After all, though the hour is late, that is the time we most let our lights shine, no? Let me regale you with the story of how I came to be here. We’ll skip over the noness…

Making the most of the next couple days to get to the finish line! It will be close. Already up past 4am once I committed to getting the post up last night… but that’s what I get for not making up my mind to join earlier!

I recently finished putting an SFT-40 in a brass FW3A with an OP reflector and stock bezel (with a 2mm spacer). This is a last minute entry so I’ll keep it brief. I didn’t take any good before pictures but first step was to remove the triple PCB and drill two holes for the single emitter. My modified flashlight is now finished. [image] Mon, 10/03/2022 - 13:06 I will use the Sofirn SF22 as host for this flashlight mod. Sofirn sold some SF22 hosts a few years ago. The price was good so I got two of them. The original Sofirn SF22 has 16 XM-L2 leds and can use 2x or with the extension tube 4x 26650 batteries. I anticipated that there might not be as many prizes as entrants. My contingency plan was to offer a prize of my own to sweeten the pot.

As an additional prize I will offer some custom MagLite “shorty” builds which I have been working on for quite a while now. I will offer three in total. You can choose any color of MagLite body.

Specs:
D Mag shorty, dual bored for dual 18650 in 1S2P configuration, dual constant current drivers with independent Anduril 2 installs, separate spot and flood channels with independent controls.
The switches are integrated into the head.
Spot channel: 3x Osram WF1 behind reflectors, 9 Amps drive current total.
Flood: 3x 219b sw4500k (or if you prefer, dedomed 519A, any CCT) behind diffused TIR optics. 6 Amps drive current total.

The caveat is that these are not ready to ship. I anticipate completion in a couple of months or so.
