The 400 Lumens Challenge (Part 3): Wurkkos TS30S Pro

Welcome back to the 400 Lumens Challenge!

  • Part 1 - 3 KR1 Flavors Face Off! [here].
  • Part 2 - FFL X4Q Comet [here]

Now it’s time for a heavy hitter: the Wurkkos TS30S Pro, equipped with the legendary SBT90.2 (5700 K). Big emitter, big potential.

As always, the rules stay the same:

  • Ceiling temp: 60 °C
  • Cell: Vapcell N40 + adapter
  • Anduril ceiling (maximum) level configured to the nearest step that outputs ~400 lumens.

Here’s the setup:

Brand Model LED CCT Driver Cell Set level Ambient
Wurkkos TS30S Pro SBT90.2 5700 K (default) VapCell N40 101/150 21°C

Interesting: it ends almost exactly at the same time as the KR1 FFL909MX from Part 1. Unlike the KR1’s clean, regulated curve, the TS30S Pro shows a much less controlled output pattern. Typical of a less refined driver.

If you remember my Level 5 comparison between the TS30S Pro and the T9R (Reddit | BLF), this behavior looks very familiar. The TS30S Pro shines in raw output, but once we start looking at consistency and efficiency at lower levels, its limitations show up fast.

So for next time, I should call back the T9R FFL909MX on the ring with its Lume1 driver. At this point I care less about the TS30S Pro. I’m just wandering if the Lume1 driver will really be able to compete against the 9A linear driver.

Stay tuned!
