BlueSwordM, is there any chance that you will organise another high CRI led group buy in the future? I could find some use for more of the SST20 FD2’s or other 90 CRI leds.

Yes in fact.

I have some plans for the LH351D 4000k dream bin that I’m not going to talk about yet. Let’s just say my last job had some unintended side benefits. Smile

I also have some more concrete plans to get SST-20s FD2, since Luminus is going full throttle producing them, and as I predicted, the distributor now has them in stock.

LH351D dream bin Big Smile

I don’t understand why Luminus don’t produce SST-20 FA3 or other rosier bins instead.

Great news! LOL I’m in as well. I have got plans for more multi-led flashlights that will need quite many leds. I like those tints below BBL quite much.

Yep, you’ve got it.

Anyway, would you guys like to have a 95CRI equivalent of the XHP70.2?

I’m rather interested in getting some to sell…

UPDATE 3

Ok guys.

So, I’ve finally shipped to everyone who has paid and responded on Friday, which is nice.

Anyway, I’ve messaged people on Wednesday who still haven’t responded and paid about their LED orders, so will wait until Wednesday.

If the people messaged do not respond before Wednesday morning, I will have some LEDs left.

So, since there still seems to be some demand for the FD2s*, I’ll sell them to the people wanting below(will PM them on Wednesday) with their spring order too

1. likevii: 20x of each size BeCu 3rd Gen spring + 3/8 SST-20s FD2*
2. Lund1660: x SST-20s FD2*
3. KevinZA1988: x SST-20s FD2*
4. contactcr: 10x large and 10x small 3rd Gen BeCu springs

*Orders with SST-20s

Now, onto the more important stuff.

Some of you guys and gals know about the new XHP70 sized 95CRI equivalent that rngwn has started selling and testing. It’s called the GT FC40!

It’s basically a domeless XHP70.2 with an amazing 95CRI rating, with a CCT of 4000k. So, I’ve decided to make a GB for this, so that we can finally get some high CRI high power goodness in XHP70 size!

This is a sort of partnership with rngwn.

2. 12x Shirnask

If really dream bin LH351D, I will be in for 40! Seems like a one time only chance to ever get these. If the typical above the BBL LH351D then not interested unless they are shaved dome.

Not exactly.

I’m just looking for interest for a good binned LH351D as I said, since my contact at Digikey finally found some good LH351D, like last time.

Last time, it was a T4 bin(a bit warm, but still very good). This time, I don’t know too much, but the order qty for choosing a good tint bin has gone down, so this seems more feasible than last time.

I really hope they are good! I have had 2 bad experiences with two different temp LH351D that were supposed to be right on the BBL but they were noticeably greener than any other high CRI similar temp and “on the BBL” emitter I have. Very disappointing after I’ve heard so many good things about good binned LH351D. Luckily I like warmer tints, so please make this happen!

The LH351D is still in planning. I’m waiting to get back a response to see how many units we need to get the T tint bins we want.

The problem is that last time, the min quantity to have some choice in tint bins was 5000pcs, so while something like 2000-2500pcs would be a huge improvement still, it would still be way too big, even for me.

HOWEVER, one thing is certain: after I sell off the rest of the SST-20s, I will probably order another 950-1000pcs batch since I have confirmation that my distributor is stocking SST-20s FD2. Not FA1 yet though.

Will FA1 ever be made? If so, that would be OMG sweet!! Maybe you can team up with MTN or maybe talk to TA and see if he can get Lumintop or Mateminco to do a joint order for the FA1 tint bin. TA was the one that got them to use the FA3 and FD2 in their lights.

Btw, I don’t really trust Samsung binning. The two LH351D groupbuys in the past was supposed to be primarily below the BBL but both ended up far above the BBL. Hopefully the batch you get will be below the BBL and even on at low amps would be good enough.

You know, what could be the reason for under BBL bins to be “harder” to get?

Is it really harder for them to be made? No. They just have to tune the phosphor recipe differently.
So? Because lemons, lemmings, etc. The greener or higher Duv, the more lumens. Thus, no surprise they are made so they meet the CRI spec while being able to bin them higher and claim more lemons. They game the crap of it. Is this bad? Wellp, in my honest opinion sort of it is. Is it…

Still haven’t received any response from the concerned people who wanted their LEDs in the GB.

As said before, once Wednesday morning rolls around and nobody answered, I’ll ship the LEDs to other people.
