I have trouble figuring out which lights and empty hosts are P60-style, so I thought others may too - especially other noobs. So I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where everyone can list all the P60 hosts (empty host or full light) they know of, into one big list.

I’ll go first with a few that I know:

I don’t have any opinions on any of those besides aesthetics, which you can decide for yourself. If anyone has input on any of those, or any others you link, please include it. Also, feel free to correct me if I erroneously listed something that is not P60-compatible.

I also like adding links, as it helps to identify the lights/hosts. Also, searching for just about any of these lights/hosts will likely result in more ebay listings than any reputable vendors.

So what do you guys know?

501, 502, 503, 504 a b &c… D maybe? Sure there’s more 50xx hosts maybe…
Pretty much all solarforce except a few of the specialty heads.

Just a few I know for sure off the top of my head. I have a few different ones bookmarked on my computer I can put up tomorrow

What about the HUGSBY S2 and S3? aren’t they p60 host?

Good to know. Just noticed the one review said “it’s a bit smaller than a regular P60 host” so I assumed it was. Will correct that. Thanks!

I never saw the list on CPF (since I have no interest in that site).Updated the OP to include that list.

Also, I feel like Match’s mini-mag mod is worth listing, with the addendum that it takes about 15 minutes of modding, so I added that.

Great resource for using P60 drop-ins as a modification for Maglite AA lights (and maybe others?) - but maybe a separate category from hosts?

If you’re inclined, you could mod the original post into some categories, like:

- P60 hosts

- P60 drop-ins (maybe we can add a list and point to reviews - think Foy did a lot of work on this)

-P60 accessories (things like the special Solarforce heads)

- P60 modifications (ways to mod P60 lights and/or use P60 parts with other lights)

And I have the S2 Incan and it isn't, I bought it because I thought it would be one.

Actually, the point of this particular thread is that I can easily find all manner of accessories and drop-ins for P60 because they are generally very clearly marked on all the sites I’ve looked at. P60 hosts, on the other hand, tend to not be specifically marked as such. We’re usually stuck asking around or ordering and trying it out.

Match’s mini mag mod, on the other hand, is just an exception I thought was worth mentioning because it is so easy. Anyone with only basic tools can do it in just a few minutes. If there are more examples like that, where you can modify some other common light as easily, I would love to see it mentioned in this thread. In fact, if there are a few of them, I will go ahead and make it a separate section called something like “Almost P60”.

I would personally love to see other modifications and have links to specific accessories, but again, the idea for this thread is just that it is so hard for someone (especially a noob) to determine what is and isn’t a P60 host without a lot of trouble. Still, the more I think of it, the better your suggestions sound. I’ll give it some thought, but it is a daunting task for a guy who doesn’t know much about all of it (me).

Been into P60 hosts recently and have been visiting these P60 threads to see if there are any new hosts (a copper host would be cool), and thought I’d revive the thread with an update even if it is old news.

The Leupold with a MX-100 bezel on the list above falls under the last category. You have to bore out the inner diameter right before the bottom for a P60 to fit (at least a Sportac or a Malkoff). I’ve dremeled mine to fit the two above mentioned P60 drop-ins, but it still isn’t wide enough to fit a Vinh built P60 module i have (too thick presently). You can get a tight fit with the Malkoff and Sprotac drop-ins when dremeled though so heat sinking is excellent. Somebody on CPF had bored his out to accept all hosts quite a few years ago (gstwitter or someone like that), but i got some heads for cheap not long ago and felt fine taking a dremel to them.
