The tint (3200k) is very nice (if you like it also, you should really try the 3000k sst-20 for even nicer tint).

I think when the FW3A starts shipping, I’m going to order a triple SST-20 board to compare to the stock emitters, and also some spare SST-20’s of both 3000K and 4000K to play with (I’ve got a couple E05’s that are definite candidates). I look forward to comparing them. Currently my only other 3000K flashlight has a 90 CRI XM-L2 in it, which the Yujis are clearly better than.

Kaidomain triple SST-20 3000K ; C01 3200K; Nichia E21A 3500K; C01 3200K

^ That photo really makes it look like there’s a lot of tint difference. I can’t imagine it’s that significant to the naked eye.

That C01 on the right is definitely rosier than the C01 on the left, though.

I do not trust any photograph to show true distinctions of color between lights. Given all the compromises taken between taking the photo itself, and then transferring it to another very limited range medium, even a very slight difference can be compounded greatly.
I would find it much more trustworthy if both of the C01s had been side by side, so that the distortion caused by the much brighter other lights would have been evenly distributed. There is a reason why most photos like this one carry the disclaimer that the only valid comparison that can be made is one of intensity.

Side by side there is quite some tint variation among the 3200K Yuji leds. They are all nice and high CRI but some are rosier. The rosiest ones have slightly less CRI btw.

Here’s a shot of the new kids on the block (Sofirn C01) and a grandpa (Arc-AAA circa 2003, w/Nichia-GS)

and some beamshots, of course.

The Arc-AAA has a great in-hand feel that has gotten even better with time. It may not be as hi-cri (nor as affordable) but it still works for me.

Nevertheless grandpa’s gonna rest (probably as back-up) while the kids do some of the (daily) work.

Seeking the light.

Thanks for your pictures: great to see the C01 next to an Arc AAA Love

I look forward to 2028 to us looking back on the C01 to see if it has aged as gracefully as your Arc Big Smile

Yes, I ordered during 1st 300 batch (10-Nov) and they got here yesterday (3-Dec), less than 4-weeks which is above average from my previous experiences. It might have helped that I ordered several other Sofirn items at the same time Blushing

Not that it practically matters because both tints are hi-cri and serving their purpose as low-level illumination but the 5600 looks to be slightly narrower than the 3200.

See 5600 on left, 3200 on right.

Seeking the light.

Oboy. Hovering over the Track button, two lights have reached some USPS sorting system in San Francisco.
And they didn’t even get their feet wet. Ali’s Order info still thinks they’re in transit in the country of origin.

They’ll get here. The mail carrier is getting used to bolting out the front door as he reaches the mailbox.

It’s probably due to the extra phospher layer(s) on the 3200K.

I too ordered on the 10th during the first batch, mine still seems to be stuck in China.

Hi Supanate7! Welcome to BLF Smile

The C01 black version is currently available in the Sofirn store at AliExpress. The link to the order page is mentioned in the opening post. Right under it is the link to the post with the visual instructions on how to get the BLF price reduction. Basically it works by explicitly asking Sofirn in the order page comments field to give you the special BLF discount by mentioning your BLF user name. Do not pay, before the price is lowered by Sofirn.

The most important point for getting the discount is patience. Sometimes it takes a while before Sofirn adjusts the price, as this is not an automated process, but involves humans.

We do not know if Sofirn actually checks the interest list in this thread, or if posting a message in this thread in which you state your interest in the C01 is OK as well. Periodically, iamlucky13 does his best to update the C01 interest list, however this also involves human volunteer work, so it can take some time.

Some forum members also bought the light directly, without jumping through hoops in order to get the discount, because they thought the price without discount was good enough as-is.

Finally, in the near future there will also be a red and blue anodized C01, but Sofirn has not given a specific launch date for these colored versions.

Just got an email from aliexpress saying Sofirn has “extended my payment protection”. Hopefully it doesn’t mean shipping is delayed… Tired

I think that is a standard email AE sends out. I got one the day after a package was delivered one time. Facepalm . Big Smile

Haha, that’s a relief. I’ve only ordered a couple things of AliExpress so far and it’s the first time I’ve come across it.

I have only placed a few orders, 7 I think; with AliExpress myself… none of them have been very speedy arriving. Wink

Crying Mine, ordered Nov 10, still say they’re in China on AE. OTOH, if I paste the tracking number into google, and track via USPS, it says it’s in a neighboring state, and that it left China 11/24, arrived in US 12/5. So… Question

Mine are also apparently in the USA as well with a date of Dec 10. Only 1 state away. Stuck in customs it seems for a while.

How long should I wait before opening a dispute? It has been 26 days and every tracking site shows for the last update as still being in China as of Nov. 26.

I’ve been “patience”, but seeing other people in the States who ordered their lights after me gtting their lights already is making me wary.

Mine look the same way. I look at the LED and think also that I’m picking the 3200, but the 5600 is the warmer looking one. I was confused for a minute when first playing with them last night.

Thanks for the notification Tally-ho, placed an order for my two pieces. Waiting for the price adjustment.

About 5 hours later price changed from 17.76$ to 13.00$. Paid.

And my two pieces have arrived here in Finland.

21.11.2018 22.00 order made
22.11.2018 03.00 price adjusted and paid shortly after
22.11.2018 12.00 “shipped”
24.11.2018 22.00 actually shipped
06.12.2018 18.00 arrived in Finland

I’d expect the parcel to be available for pickup at my local post office next Monday or Tuesday unless the customs decides to take a look at it.

If you really want the lights, just relax & give it time. You’ll get the lights sooner or later. I’m in the same boat you are, but I have every confidence they will get here sooner or later.

My experience with AliExpress is always the “later” part of “sooner or later” by the way. Big Smile

Preach it, Teach.

Especially coming on the heels of the big 11/11 sale, the China-US transportation is likely overburdened right now and running a bit slower than usual.

I get that, but what perplexes and worries me is other people who ordered after me have gotten theirs already, or their’s are at least in the States.

Your exactly right gchart. Thumbs Up . I totally forgot about the 11/11 sale, that just adds to the time a bit.

Many times there is no ‘rhyme or reason’ when dealing with shipping from China defloyd77. That is just how it is sometimes. Yours may have been sent by a different carrier, a slower boat, etc., etc. Give it time… you’ll get it. Smile

Teacher is wise. I ordered on the 10th in the first 300. Paid full price for one of each. They probably oversold that batch and are having to wait for manufacturing. It may take till February to get them and with Chinese New year it might be April. You never know.

I don’t think that’s the case with mine since it has already shipped out.
